First with the pros:
1. Great location, centrally, but quite and safe, nice Japanese restaurant just in front;
2. Free shuttle from the airport;
3. Lowest price-wise among the chain of Accor, for almost the same services. The use of the pool, bars and restaurants is common for Ibis and Novotel. The rooms in Ibis might be smaller, but for the price difference on the market in Dakar it is a great value;
4. Pool is big and on the sun, the towels are provided;
5. Decent breakfast;
6. Free wifi;
7. Live music in the bar of Novotel.
8. Nice view from the room to the ocean.

Cons:
1. The shuttle from the airport is not all day/night, but certain hours during the day, confirm with the hotel the time if there is any, otherwise you will need to search other means of transportation. The shuttle sign is not always visible as it depends if the lady who is charge is there or not. Look for it, as soon as you pick up your luggage and at the exit from the airport;
2. Wifi is extremely slow;
3. Breakfast is quite simple and is lacking some sauces that one may request. No proper coffee.
4. The room felt a little bit outdated and the carpet was sticky and looked dirty. The hot water taps are not correct, so check both sides (cold and hot) to get the one you want.
5. The bed is OK, but the pillows are horrible. They are very thin.
6. Airconditioner in the room did not work.
7. Check-out took about 30 min in the morning on the way to the airport. They did not have the bills from the restaurant and bar from the evening before and I had to ask them to find and to add to my final check out bill. It took them 30 min, but still did not find them. So I just left not to be late to the airport. Whether my drinks are complimentary now or not, I will know later on the credit card statement.
8. Entitled welcome drink was not provided/offered.

All in all reasonably priced, with satisfactory services in comparison to its "sister" Novotel and Pullman and I have stayed in both earlier.

The Dakar Ibis was very good value with a good breakfast, helpful staff (but not all speak much English), fast, modern elevators, wonderful shower and bed. Price was very good for single rooms. What more can you ask for? We enjoyed walking around the pool and garden in the evenings and also appreciated the local artwork displayed, primarily at the adjoining Novotel. In the elevator and rooms at the Ibis, brochures indicated light foods (pizza, etc) at the bar. However, we never found any employee who could provide this!

We were there 3 nights and had a couple of lunches and dinners at the Novotel. Food there was expensive and servings too large, but we enjoyed the ambiance and service. There is not much in the way of nearby restaurants, that women especially, would walk to in the evening without a taxi, a group or male friends.

Also, we had prepaid for all nights and when we checked out our rooms appeared as unpaid...beware! Check your bill carefully.

Room Tip: I think they are all the same except for bed type.
