I have stayed at Martin's three times now and my only hesitation in writing a review is how much I have enjoyed that my partner and I were the only ones there. As much as I would love to keep this gem to myself, it is only right to tell you all how wonderful this place is.
To begin with, Martin has prepared the best food I have eaten so far in my 8 months living in Sierra Leone. Even if you only go for a meal it is worth it for that. If you call ahead, Martin will make sure there is fresh wonderful food that even the French approve of.
The beach huts are basic yet nice and clean. He has huts with flush toilets but is moving toward eco friendly composting toilets in his newer huts. After three nights there was still no odor. The water is heated by the sun on the storage tank and is the perfect cool refreshing shower after a hot day on the beach. The bed is comfy and the mosquito net is new. Next time I will bring my own pillow just to make it perfect.
The beach is smaller than some others in the area but the cove is more than big enough for the few people there. I am sure that even if every hut was full, a spot on the sand out of earshot of others can be had. There is even has a secret beach just south of the main beach for secluded moments.
Martin is a qualified skipper and can arrange boat trips in his pro-line speed boat, his hobbie cat sail boat, or on larger sailboats he can charter on your behalf.
Bahamut is my favorite place in Salone! Everyone should enjoy this slice of paradise, just don't come when I am there.

Room Tip: Get the hut on the north end of the beach where there is shade on the beach out front.

The beach is beautifull. It's small en secluded. The host is Martin. He's very friendly and he cooks delicious meals. We stayed in a hut with a bucket shower right on the beach. Overal it's a little bit ramshackle, but that's exactly what this kind of place on the beach should be. Cold beers, good food, your feet in the sand, watching the sunset...what else do you need.

Room Tip: All rooms are right on the beach and have toilets. Price ranges between 50-70 dollar per night.

Beautiful stay to remember! Loved the long, empty beach… nice and cozy bungalows with the ocean right at your door step. Food is amazing, you’ve got to try the seafood Martin cooks. Everything you need for a very relaxing break. Highly recommended! Hope to come back one day ;)

Simple and nice huts/bungalows on a lovely, quiet private beach. Delicious food. Martin is an amazing cook and the best host you can wish! Feels like home!
Lay at the beach, snorkle with Parrotfish, have a walk on beautiful wild Black Johnson beach.
The perfect place to get away for a retreat out of busy Freetown.

Within one hour you can escape Freetown and be sitting with a GnT in hand watching the sunset at this little spot on Black Johnson. The accommodation is simple but clean and functional - it meets all your needs and the bed line and mosquito net are immaculate. You could not be closer to the beach and there is nothing quite like waking up to the noise the Atlantic.

I highly recommend having dinner here, the owner, Martin is an exceptional cook and does wonders with local produce. After dinner he will arrange a bonfire if wanted. The breakfast is also great.

It is a great place to switch off from work and Freetown and enjoy some peace and quite. I have stayed here several times and will be back again.
