The Falcon Hotel is a very good mid-range hotel, in a central but quiet location downtown. The rooms are decent, with good ensuite bathrooms, and the staff are friendly. There is a pleasant courtyard, with an adjoining colonial-era house, where breakfast is served and evening meals and drinks can be had. There is WifFi and satellite TV; a double room costs around SDG200 ($80-90), and discounts are sometimes available. As a mid-range Sudan hotel, things are not perfect or luxurious (you have to pay a lot for that in Khartoum, and even then you probably won't be satisfied). But overall, the hotel is a nice, quiet base - a good alternative to the celebrated and more expensive Acropole (which is just round the corner), or the impersonal likes of the Horizon and Plaza hotels. I would recommend it for businessmen, aid workers, academics, tourists and others who are looking for a place in the US$100 range.
