The Monument of l'independance is a tribute to Togo's independence from France on the 27th of April 1960. The structure has the silhouette of a person carved within it and is surrounded by promenades, manicured lawns, fountains and a black and gold iron fence. Requires a taxi ride to get there. Great place to photograph. The circular park it was located on was closed to public when I visited however great pictures can be taken from outside the fence. Apparently they open the park during certain times and occasions. I wished I could go in because the monument has detailed inscriptions carved in and around it.
