From Taxi pickup from airport (great company, Stanley, on the 2.5 hour drive from Entebbe Airport to Hotel) to reception to breakfast the next morning - experience was great.

Conveniently located to several small shopping centres. Really great breakfast experience on patio overlooking golf course, wish I had time to play. range of options for dinner.

For travelers who want a good conveniently located hotel just outside the main stream busy city centre, and a hotel that looks out to make your stay as comfortable as possible, I would encourage you to try it out. The services are very good and their food is excellent. They have maintained this as their niche since the first time they opened their doors to the public some good years back.

The rooms were quite adequate. The location is convenient being close to a small shopping mall with banks, grocery store, and other shops. Several restaurants of moderate quality are close at hand so convenient for long working days. The front office staff was helpful in getting taxis and other small excursions arranged. The hotel is clean and fairly comfortable. There are workout machines on every floor - stationary cycle/treadmill.
I spent a week there and this was my 3rd stay.

I recently completed a 5 night stay at the Golf Course Hotel in Kampala. The hotel has potential -good location, quiet surroundings and fairly comfortable rooms. It is billed as a business person’s hotel in the city. While it is certainly close to center city my stay was marred by a few troubling service lapses.
The business center was sadly lacking - with the most basic of tasks (eg photocopying) proving to be quite arduous with poor equipment and very junior staff. The Wi-Fi connectivity was painfully slow and unstable making document downloads almost impossible. Quite troubling also was my experience with a security person at the hotel. The main security person at the street entrance to the hotel on at least 3 occasions - when I was present - insisted on my taxi driver providing him 'some facilitation' before allowing him to enter the hotel driveway - on each occasion saying he was thirsty.
Perhaps most discomforting for me was my experience at the Revolving Restaurant at the hotel. On one of the evenings I went to have a drink at this restaurant while awaiting the arrival of two colleagues for dinner - my colleagues were apparently caught in one of Kampala's well-known rush-hour traffic jams. The manager of the restaurant (John Chalo) approached me and recommended that I have my drinks downstairs at the Banda - since (according to him) his was a classy restaurant and not a place for drinks only. Quite flabbergasted by the restaurant manager’s statement - when my colleagues did eventually arrive I decided to go elsewhere. Fortunately Kampala has a number of wonderful unpretentious places very close-by where one can have a meal in very conducive circumstances and at the same time experience the true friendliness of Ugandan hospitality.
I hope General Manager Amos Otieno will be able to spare other guests similar such treatment. If entry to the Revolving Restaurant is truly so restricted – then there should be clear signage to this effect well positioned at the elevators and at the entrance of the restaurant and then perhaps other guests can be spared being shepherded by the likes of John Chalo to the rather wet Bandas downstairs. It will also certainly not be misplaced if restaurant manager John Chalo is strongly encouraged to spend some time attending basic management and client courtesy 101 training. Perhaps he may then start to understand that true classiness needs substance and external validity and is not something that can be self-proclaimed.
For me on my next 5-day visit to Kampala (in a few weeks time) - I am strongly inclined to spend my $1,100 USD for accommodation somewhere else more conducive and less pretentious.

The hotel is located next to 2 shopping malls, which make it very convenient for long stays. Very friendly staff. Avoid rooms on road side that could be noisy early morning on weekdays. Tilapia fillet on restaurant downstairs strongly recommended. There is restaurant called Java Cafe just few meters away with very good food as well.

Room Tip: First floor rooms

8 days stay at the Golf Course Hotel prior to moving into long term accommodation. Initial reaction was very positive with a large room, airy and spacious with a fine view over the golf course. Huge bathroom with very large corner bath and a shower. Comfortable bed. Quiet. Decent choice of restaurants, both outside (Patio) and a Steak type restaurant inside.
Cons were the bathroom shower changed temperature frequently. Surely you can get this right. It is no fun to stand in a warm shower then have freezing and then scalding water. Unacceptable in a hotel of this apparent quality. Free internet which was variable, sometimes very fast then went off altogether. Usual excuses of ISP provider, but again it should not happen and hotels of this quality should have back ups. 2 power cuts during the stay resulted in each case about 4 hours of no electricity, no TV, no Internet. Again they should have back up generators. Power goes off all the time in Kampala, for the price it is appalling that they don't have back ups. And the final insult was on check out when you try and pay by credit card and they convert the Uganda Shillings to USD and then if you are using a credit card (as I was) in GBP, you get stung on all the conversions PLUS pay a 4% service fee to the hotel. This is ILLEGAL under Visa scheme rules. The only reason they get even 2 stars is that the room was comfy. Too many poor deliveries and too much variability to justify more. Friendly staff in the restaurant.
