I stayed at The Lodge last weekend during a volunteer mission for 5 days. The rooms are great, a twin or double bed is lined with "brilliant" white sheets and the shower and toilet are modern and new to match. I'm usually a 5 start girl and was throughly impressed from start to finish.
There is a common living room with a TV that a kicthen (no fridge) if your a longer term guest who wishes to have storage. The common living room is only shared by the room upstairs or down and you can both look the common room when you go outide.
The hospitality of the couple who own the home is unmatched. A home cooked breakfast awaits your daily stay. The toast has an unfamilar sweet taste alongwith the local jam that I am yurning for already. They also make omlette and egg toaities but the variance keeps every day fresh. The rooms are changed daily accompanied by fresh towels and they are always ready to help. I miss it already...

Aside from voluteering we went into town most evening - Ndere centre was well worth the wait. The Lodge is 20 mins from Kampala, I would advise that you use a taxi the hotel are familar with to take you to and from town and plan ahead (5 is busy so takes 1.5 hours but after 7pm about 30-40 mins). (45,000 UGS) each way and they will usually stay in town if you are there for a few hours of come back so 90,000 total). As an expat from Dubai I like to the expat spots and keep it safe with the areas I visit. I always felt safe in Kamapaa and cant wait to return by Sep

Garden City shoping centre - we tried a lovely Indian rest on the top floor. We didnt shop much.
Sheraton Kampala - The cocktail bar is chilled and more of a mens cigar room but outside there a great opp to dine al fresco with a live band.
Casablanca - an outside chill-out italian with casual dining. The Shisha is great but the pizza I chose had a strange after taste. In any case the chips tasted like UK and I was please
Mamba Point - Best Italian and affordable. Classy surrounding and quite romantic
O'Leery's Irish Pub - for the young but a good expat spot on Acacia oad
Big Mike's - classy al fresco Bar next to O'Leery's with endless cocktails, shisha and a club attached that you gain free entry (kicks off around middnight)

Room Tip: This venue was close to where the childrens home was so I will be returning. Not so great if you need to be kampala city based

My husband, son and I stayed at The Lodge for 4 weeks as we journeyed through an adoption. The staff is truly amazing, the place is cleaned top to bottom each day, and the food is excellent and safe to eat. We couldn't have been happier with the service and accomodations. Everyone there is willing to help over and above what you would expect. We had stayed at another location in Kampala for 2 weeks that was less expensive ($40 USD) and we found out why. The rooms were not as big or as nice as The Lodge, the morning breakfasts were not as hearty, and it was always loud. We moved back to The Lodge for our last week in country and it felt like we were coming home to family. It was well worth the $60 USD per night.

We always had hot water, we used the wireless internet (but we also had a 3G internet stick as well), and found it to be a good resting place after some long days in the city.

You can take the boda bodas up to Lubowa and eat at Great African Coffee and Chi Chis for other restaurant options.

Room Tip: We stayed in the little house right in the front by the lobby/dining and you have a separate family room, big bathroom and bedroom. We moved to the upstairs apartment (with 2 bedrooms) on the back side and ended up having closet space, a large bed, and balconies. Both rooms were fabulous but we would choose the little apartment style again so we could have more closet space since we were there long term.

Based on the many positive TripAdvisor ratings we chose this hotel, but were overall disappointed. Out of all hotels and hostels (some even shoestring!) during our 3 week Uganda trip, this was the most disappointing hotel: 1. rooms are relatively expensive compared to the rest of Uganda and even compared to other hotels in Entebbe (e.g. African roots guesthouse), 2. the staff was not very friendly and helpful, they overcharged us for using the telephone and for using boda-bodas, 3. the rooms were ok, but nothing special, 4. the taxi transfer from the airport is also overcharged. We would definitely recommend to go somewhere else! You can get nicer hotels in Entebbe (e.g. African roots guesthouse) as well as in Kampala (e.g. Cassia Lodge), so there is no need to stay in Kampala Lodge.

17 swiss loved this place and they recommended for every client flying to Uganda. Because its only 20 minutes drive from Ebb and 15 minutes to kampala city center. You should not miss a night here and it's pocket friendly.....

My husband and i stayed at the lodge two nights before our safari and one night after and i must say the place is beautiful. When we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. The staff were fantastic, food was very excellent and most of all the rooms are beautiful and clean.

I could see the beautiful gardens from the balcony of my room and they are really green and lovely.

I loved the lodge and surely i will go back again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the gardens have a good view.
