“Etana Motel”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

Small , Cozy, and in a nice location - about 15 - 20 mins into town. Lots of beautiful Hill side scenery to enjoy. Was here for a business Trip and it's such an ideal place for one with business motives. I wouldn't recommend it for leisure, however if couples / singles need a place to crash as they go along their business - not bad at all. The room can be pretty cold due to the sliding doors , so carry some warm clothing for the evening.
Not much space in the room, but it's a great bargain for an en-suit with nice fixtures and interiors. There is a study table too for work work work. There is a whole shopping area with forex, banks, cybers, super markets, blah blah.. just up the road about 5 - 10 mins walk from the motel.
Down side: Doors don't lock, so lock your baggage. The road leading to the lodge is all weather but short distance so guarantee of mud or dusty feet when talking a walk. My light in bath wasn't working.. funny, coz i needed to use it in the night / early morning.. hope they fix that. They promised internet - and was not easy to get it, but eventually with nagging i did as i needed to send reports daily. The breakfast is tooo basic. Nice creamy drinking chocolate in a pot with simple toast slices and banana or egg. Etana, you can do little better. Noisy nights when bar's unleash their music on Wed + Friday's Anyway travelers - this is a basic Lodge, so you'll be happy if you are just looking for a clean place to stay - all eating and Entertainment can be done outside. The TV is not on cable but local channels. I didn't mind it that much. Hope the care takers smile more - people like to talk and be around others.

Room Tip: Carry warm jersy/ leggings for nights. Eating out is mote rewarding.

Nice, clean option in the suburbs of Kampala. Rooms are as seen on the website and have satellite TV.

There are a selection of good restaurants about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel. ATM available in the country club which is a further couple of mins up the road.

Pick-up to/from Entebbe is $30.

The service was excellent and the staff are helpful, i was offered free cab service from and to the airport.
The cleanliness is superb, rooms are cleaned every morning by the cleaning staff, the motel is also located only 20 minutes from the city centre.
Its also suitable for people travelling in groups en route to camping and those visiting the game parks.

Room Tip: The top floor rooms give you a better view of the environment.

A perfect place to stay if you are travelling around Kampala, especially in its sub-urban area! The room looks EXACTLY as it shows on the website and the staff, together with the owner Bruno, were really nice and helpful!
The breakfast was simple and refreshing, and the whole motel is tidy and clean. The beds are double and each room is with TV and a small toilet. Wifi is included, although the network is not that stable, but this is a problem of the whole Uganda rather than the hotel. And the surrounding area is actually quite safe and convenient, with several stores and supermarkets around.
I would say, my 2 weeks stay there was VERY pleasant and great! Considering the budget, there is nothing more you can ask for from this Motel! (And if you do ask for something, the staff and Bruno will surely be there to help!)

The room has exquisite finishes, sliding glass doors covered with nice curtains, 14 inch flat screen tv with satellite connection, double bed, wardrobe, vanity table with mirror and stool, washroom with clean toilet and hot water shower all for $30 a night. There is no fridge in the room but they can chill/store your edibles on request. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are small but tastefully done. Located in Bokoto, about 15 minutes from the bustling city center. There is no restaurant/bar/pool in the motel but one can easily find those in the vicinity of the hotel. I liked their service best, the staff at Etana Motel are polite, friendly and catered to our needs in an exemplary fashion. I also liked the pocket friendly price.

Great staff, great, if small rooms, affordable, clean, well located. WhT else could you wish for?

Rooms, either single or double occupancy, go for 30 usd. Wifi is free, there are several restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance and the city centre is easily reached.

My preferred hotel in Kampala.
