I stayed at this hotel a few times in 2012 and then again in 2013, and have never been impressed. While the location is good, the rooms are rather small and not maintained very well. The staff also seemed fairly unwelcoming and slow. When available, I would rather stay at the Serena.

Room Tip: If you get a room that faces the city, it can get noisy at night. There is often a band that plays down in the courtyard until late in the evening.

This hotel is one of the iconic buildings in the Kampala city. It's got a great location as it's in the center of town, but the rooms have really gotten old and it's clear that management isn't pressed to reinvest in maintenance and refurbishment. The rooms themselves are okay, but the bathrooms are really in bad shape. I've stayed here several times and while the SPG rooms are okay, the regular rooms have bathrooms with broken tiles and faucets that reveal brown water when first turned on. The breakfast is good and the ambience in the restaurant is nice with the live music. But this is also becomes problematic if you want to get sleep as the band is always loud and goes late even during the week on certain days.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the side of the restaurant unless you want a live band soothing you to sleep.

This is in a good location downtown, but that's about all it has going for it.

Internet wifi was slow and erratic.

Rooms are old, tired and need renovation to get them up to Sheraton standards.

Staff are slow in doing the simplest tasks such as check in and out.

I will probably try a different hotel in Kampala for my next trip. The Sheraton is not value for money.

Room Tip: Difficult to advise on this one really. Perhaps ask to stay in the most recently modernised one if they have any.

The hotel has very good location in down town Kampala. Prices are more affordable than other 5 stars hotels. Staff is slow though they are friendly. Rooms are old and many electrical plugs are not working even at the executive floor (11th floor). The breakfast restaurant has a very nice terrace.

Room Tip: I have always been in the executives floor
