Owner description: Though larger and more diverse collections are housed elsewhere, the hands-on traditional drums and other musical instruments are the highlight of this modest collection.

We spent 2 hours at the museum. There was a lot of interesting material, much in French as well as English. Many exhibits, including slides of Ugandan animals needed lighting. Outside, many of the bandas were not accessible.

I think every visitor to Uganda must visit the Uganda museum. It has a lot of history about Uganda and all the attractions. I have never seen the queen's car and i found it there. Alot of amazing history is kept in that place. Please visit and tell others!

The power was out and it seemed that was normal for the museum. It was difficult to read some of the information because of the lack of lighting. Many of the displays are in need of updating, cleaning up, or a total renovation. I did learn things about Uganda so that was a good thing and I know the country doesn't have a lot of money to put into a museum but maybe the museum could partner with a foreign organization to help update the museum.m

We liked experiencing Uganda's history with just a walk through the 'alleys' of this museum. But the place seems poorly managed with quite a number of exhibits poorly maintained. It also tends to lack big portions of Uganda's history. I'll recommend the place but it is better to be liberal with your expectations

First of all the place is a bargain at only 5k for admission (about $2)The museum gives a nice overview of the history of Uganda and the culture of it's many tribes. Of course, it's not the British Museum, but I felt the exhibits were well arranged and contained a good number of genuinely interesting artifacts. Our guide was also very friendly. It would be nice if more funds were available to maintain and upgrade the place, but you have to remember that this is a developing country. If you keep that in mind, you'll have a nice time. I would recommend it to anyone paying a visit to Kampala.
