“Go for the view not the Cathedral”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

The Cathedral itself isn't anything spectacular and when I was there it was being renovated and there was scaffolding all over the place.

The views however from the hill are breathtaking. I watched the sun set over Kampala from the hill and it was stunning. Worth the walk up there anyway!

“Solemn Serene and Beautiful....very beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014

Went on a Thursday and much as there was no activity in the compound the beautiful grounds, grand architectural designs of the cathedral and the peace and quiet were enough for me.

The history behind the mass graves is moving though we were told that soon they wont allow visitors to take photos of these.

Its also a great spot to check out the Kampala landscape.

Would visit it again

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

This Cathedral is one of the best I've ever seen and the best in Africa. Even though the Cathedral is being renovated, it is still awesome and they are still playing the piano even in saturdays. The architectural design is superb. It is a very solemn and peaceful place. I really recommend all to visit Namirembe Kathedrale when you are in Kampala especially if you are a Roman Catholic, this is a must see place.

“God Rocks in Uganda”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2014

I attended the 8.30 am service in the synod hall while the Cathedral is being renovated. I took a tour afterwards with my hosts. This is A BUILDING TO RIVAL THE GREAT CATHEDRALS OF Europe. It has a capacity of over 2,000 but is nowhere near as ornate as the European Cathedrals. It is designed to purpose which is to worship the tru and living God.
Now in the hall the service I attended held about 4--. The choir rivalled that in the Whoopi Goldberg movies and they were fantastic. The preaching was animated and captivating, even tho it wwas translated to English.

For a truly great worship experience go for God here at Namiremebe. I would love o come back and hear th esinging with 2000 rocking Ugandans.

“Great Views Here & Singing Choirs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

I recommend sightseeing on Sunday afternoons in Kampala as many people are relaxing after church, hence less traffic. Amazing views here and we found a little hut here called Sunday Shade with teens dressed in Sunday School attire and singing. Nice place to get a photo of the Qadaffi Mosque and city 'skyline.'
