“Good value but has its downsides”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

Spacious and good value rooms are the positives for this hotel. The downsides are that the breakfast buffet is poor and the air conditioning units are very loud. Location is good as the hotel is walking distance from a range of good restaurants. Service was not good due to complications with billing on check out.

Good location ... esp golf course facing rooms. Quiet and green view from these rooms. Staff friendly. Internet barely works in most places , though they claim to have both cable in room and wifi. Breakfast food is always over and 50 % of the items are not on display at breakfast time . It is better to check all services in the room as they are spacious and comfortable - however will have some problem like A/C not working, ventilator not working, shower head not working etc and they do not fix it despite several requests ! Beds and sleep quality is good. Restaurants are passable and do not offer much choice. The Thai restaurant is definitely not Thai food ! Should also link up with a good tour operator who can advise on tailored tourism for guests.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the golf course are greener and quieter

The location is perfect for the business trip, i liked the open air restaurant looked the golf course in front of you it looks beautiful;
Though some have complained about the service but honestly i appreciated the timing and discipline of the staff.
The price is also fair compared to other hotels of the same standards in Kampala.
Definitely i do recommend it and will come back.

A very good place with good Ambiance and great hospitality from staff.
Surrounded with greenery good light and air facilities naturally it is great place.
The hotel is situated in the posh location near a golf club. The value is relatively cheap.
The rooms are good sized Overall a nice place to stay - both for business n leisure.

I will start the review with the hotel's open air restaurant which gives a picturesque view of the golf course hidden by trees around. And the food tastes good as well.

The rooms are good sized; unfortunately with not-so-good fittings, but that can be ignored, given the fact the price it comes at. Also, its away from the market...

Overall a nice place to stay - both for business n leisure; just try for a room not facing the main road.

Room Tip: Rooms towards the Golf Course are quiter... Avoid ones along the main road.

The hotel is situated in the posh location near a golf club. The value is relatively cheap. The restaurants are not up to standard to one has to look for outside alternative. It is relatively clean. It sometimes host political party tribunals so may not be very safe on such cases as tear gas can be used to scare aware protesters. Other than that is relatively cheap.

Room Tip: The room facing the entrance are quieter

I stayed at the hotel for two weeks and can highly recommend it. In terms of food, the breakfast is varied and caters to a variety of tastes - continental or full with eggs made to order - and the hotel offers a variety of menus. All the items I ordered were very tasty and sun downers on the lovely deck that overlooks the golf course is a treat. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable and housekeeping is first rate. And if you want to explore other food options there are a variety of excellent restaurants nearby, safe to walk to if you are two or more people at night. There are also drivers on the premises if you want to visit the nearby Garden City Mall or to one of the many excellent markets around Kampala (this is not a shuttle though you need to negotiate and pay). And if you shouldn't feel well The Surgery is just across the road. In short, I will definitely stay at the Metropole again.

Room Tip: Rooms that face the road (John Babiha / Acacia Avenue) can be noisy as a result of traffic and pedes...
