I could go either way on this one. First of all I loved the location. The view was fantastic and it was a nice retreat from the pollution and craziness of downtown. Rooms were nice with hard beds. The swimming pool was also nice. I was visiting with my family (wife and four children) and it was not the best set up for a family in my opinion. We broke up our stay there with a Safari up to Murchison Falls NP and during our first stint they had my wife and I upstairs in a double with our two year old and our other three children downstairs in a triple. They had the same arrangement after safari but my wife insisted on the kids being closer to us. That's when we learned they do have a lockout unit (16 & 17) that worked much better. Resteraunt was OK but pricey. The breakfast was very repetitive with the same food every morning (think English breakfast). Another downer was the absence of an iron and board in the rooms. I would stay again but probably not with the fam.

I was on a group tour and we were actually suppose to stay at the Hotel Africana that night, but to my delight, somehow we ended up here instead. What a pleasant surprise! The hotel was beautiful, the view was beautiful, the pool was beautiful, the food was excellent and there was tv & internet! I especially loved the mosquito nets that were curtains around your bed rather than draping in your face everytime you moved. I wish we could have stayed longer!!

I went to uganda for a short break from stressful england and My boyfriend whisked me to cassia lodge for a romantic weekend-i can tell u it was the perfect get away!!
Cassia is located in the outskirts of kampala on a hill , and the view is just breathtaking!!! the rooms are spacious and immaculate-(shame they have no bath tubs though)the staff were very polite and friendly(although some didnt speak good english),the food was mouth watering and they have a sizable swimming pool.
I would say cassia is a perfect place to relax while in uganda.
Iam looking forward to going back in december!!!

I stayed five days at the Cassia Lodge on Buziga Hill in Kampala in july 2008. And I can assure you: I had a wonderful time!

The rooms are very spacious & clean and have a very nice bathroom with toilet. You also find a mini bar, a safe, a terrace with a superb lake view,… all ingredients for an unbelievable stay. The lodge, build in a nice African style, has a swimming pool overlooking the lake.

The hotel is run by a professional staff which has the pleasure to find an answer for all your questions. Ask them some advice for your excursions: they love helping people!

The restaurant offers an amazing view over Kampala and the Victoria lake while eating excellent food. Try the extra fresh talapia fisch and ask the waiter for a nice glass of wine. Very nice breakfast too!

If you’re travelling for business purposes: the hotel is only 8 km away from the Kampala city center and offers you a free wireless internet connection. There’s a business corner available if you left your notebook at home.

And all that for a very nice price (120 USD/night).

In this hotel you find the African style combined with an excellent service and and excellent all day open kitchen. View is extraordinary, also from the pool. City centre is, included traffic jams, 15 minutes away. But you can stay in the quiet part of Kampala booking this hotel.
Belgian owner had manyh contacts in Uganda, wat makes it the best possible hub to start your journey in the country. It is the best start in Uganda.
Shuttle service picks you at the airport and delivers you safe back again for your return trip.
Cassia is a safe haven in an adventurous country.

This Hotel was a fantastic experience and well priced. Totally removed from the busy town centre yet only a few minutes away. I travel all over Africa on a regular basis and the service and care from this staff compliment will not be easily exceeded. The view from the rooms is magnificent over Lake Victoria and the city of Kampala. The food was outstanding and well prepared. (Beware of food poisening if you decide to have a quick meal elsewhere.) Business centre operated very smoothly and was a pleasure to use. Rooms do not have aircons but I found that not necessary as rooms are well rigged to protect against mosquitos and it was not hot at night. Television variety and general visual reception is very good. I will certainly recommend this venue and will use it again. Keep it up.

Traveling in east Africa can be a bit wearisome. My daughter and I had been directed to this hotel for a stay at for start of a 4 day safari. It is located a bit out of the center of Kampala but still easy to get in and out of the city center. The hotel is peaceful, clean, and quiet amidst all the business of that city. Every part of the stay there was wonderful, the staff exceptionally helpful and kind, the restaurant and bar area has a great view and is a relaxing place to sit. Breakfast is served with this view and comes with the stay. The rooms are standard comfort but suitable. Most of all, the general atmosphere of the hotel was one that gave us a place to feel at home in especially after we returned from the safari. We used it has a regrouping rest before we travelled out again. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to Kampala.
