Juls is a car rental company, a tour operator and also a guest house owner.
She convinced us to stay in the guesthouse through clever selling.
Location - near Arcades Shopping Centre - about 1.5 km away.
The rooms are big enough, the beds are quite okay.
There was a TV in the room and an aircon unit. Poor quality units though.
So it seems the place has everything a good guesthouse should have, except wifi and everything is a bit tacky.
Our bathroom door lock was broken, which means the door would always swing open.
The interior design and style of furnishing is really terrible, they should get someone professional to come and change everything from light fittings , decorations etc etc.
Everything was done as cheap as possible.. or so it seems.
All this would still be okay if the price to stay was up to $ 60 - 70 for a room inclusive of breakfast, but its not, its about double that, which means that Juls is competing with Stay Esay Hotel and the Cairo Rd, Protea Hotel.
Juls is very very far away from the standard of both these two places, so you are far better off staying at either of them.
Juls also takes an additional 5% if you pay by card, which she is not really supposed to do -I found out from Barclays Bank in Zambia - and of course a proper hotel like the two mentioned above does not nail you with the 5% surcharge.
So all in all, not so good value for money and a tacky place pretending to be something better.
If they are willing to let you have a room for 2 people for say $ 60 or even $ 70 , then I would say fair value, and give them an average rating.
In their price class where they market themselves at well over $ 100 a room its poor value.
