“"The Best affordable accommodation" Heart of Thimphu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

Centrally located in the heart of Capital City, Hotel Pedling is the best hotel we could find at affordable price for normal tourist like me. I stayed their for two nights on March 2014 with my two friends, The rooms are need and clean with big TV, continuous hot shower, great view from the room. Food was better than any other hotel that we used during our tour.(esp, buffet Breakfast is supper) Staffs are helpful and lovely. Free WIFI even in the rooms are just what travelers need it to connect with friends and family's back at home. It just take 2 minutes of time to reach near by handicraft for shopping.
overall i loved all but maintenance work was going on which was disturbing us sometime but nothing much since they are working hard to provide better service. Thumps up to the management for such hard work you are putting in to meet the tourist need. I will definitely visit again and use your hotel.
thanks.

Pedling hotel was our first stay in Bhutan and the standard was set high. It's a standard hotel with 5 star service. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The meals there were excellent breakfast consist if juice, toast, eggs (made to your specification), cereal, tea or coffee. Dinner consist of soup to start then 4-5 different dishes and a big bowl of rice. Dessert at the end. More than we can eat. What made them different instead of buffet style they service us at our table. I notice everyone had the dishes but individually served. Their meals were the best compare to all the other places.
The rooms decent size, nice and clean. Bathroom alittle worn but everything worked. Internet was in the room and worked great.
The service by the staff were great. Always ready to answer questions or serve us tea.
Location was great. Easy to get anywhere in Thimphu. We walked around to hit some of the local shops and souvenir shops. Overall the best hotel for us in Bhutan all around.

We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms on the first floor. The room looked nice (besides some overlooked details), was large and clean. There was a minibar and a large flat screen tv. The bathroom had an excellent shower, the light was maybe a little too dim for putting on makeup.
Our room was more towards the back and did not have much street noise.

The food in the restaurant was ok, not very memorable but definitely not bad.

A good option for Thimpu with an excellent location!

It is a good hotel with very friendly management, very easy atmoshpere for a solo traveller. Always went back there when returning to Thimphu. They should also have spa finished by now. They have hotels also in Gangteng and in Paro, these are also nice places to stay and makes it easy to cover Bhutan. And laundry service was nice - no shrinken pullovers and stuff. People might have all sorts of experiences but mine was excellent.

My friend and I visited Bhutan for our twelve day trip with the tour group, Bridge to Bhutan. The location is good but the hotel itself is not so great. First of all the first room we stayed in was clean however the bathroom sink leaked and would create a puddle on the floor after by the time you were done with washing up. The second room they put us in a smoking room. It was horrible. From shower curtain to the mattress and to the pillow, everything in that room was heavily embedded with cigarette smoke odor. At first, neither of us being smokers, we thought we could air the room out for a few hours before bed time but boy were we so wrong. With windows with no screens, the cigarette smoke odor was still going strong nonetheless and we have only invited mosquitoes into our room. We went down to the front desk to change our rooms but was told that the manager was off-site and could not be reached and that they could not help us as no other rooms were available to us but that smoking room. That room was so disgusting and now filled with mosquitoes, we ended up staying on the sofa near the front desk with packs of dogs barking all night long around at the front door to the hotel. I barely got any sleep that night. If your tour company ever puts you in this hotel, make sure it is a smoke-free room. As for the hotel restaurant, the breakfast and dinner were okay.

It is very difficult to give good rating for most of the hotels throughout Bhutan for a business/official traveler. Hotels are not having any particular policies of operation. They don't want to give a valid traceable bills. Most of the time they charge room rent in a white paper(surprisingly with Service Taxes).

this hotel is very well location in the center of the city. the rooms are small but clean with hot water, heater, TV and other amenities. however, i must point out that the hotel was still under renovation inside and there were noise sometimes. the restaurant quality is ok....we did see a mouse wondering around the restaurant floor though....
