Absolutely fabulous is the garden, a calm quit place just outside busy Thamel.
Still very close to all the things you want to do in Katmandu.
Had a very nice stay, nice big room with good bathroom, hot water was available, but being in Nepal hot water is not like home...Room was clean with a nice view of the garden.
Personell very friendly and helpfull, good restaurant and nice open fire at night.
Also check out the travel advice, people really know what's a good thing to do in a short time.
Had a great trekking with people of the guesthouse around Katmandu Valley.

All the nice rooms are kept hidden, The room I booked was with a bathroom, the night of arrival they told me all were busy but they will give me a better one the next day, had to stay in a room that used to be a kitchen with no nets on the window, grease on the walls, the smell was horrible the bathroom was outside, the bed very rough. The better room had no drain pipe beneath the sink had to find a bucket. The Garden is the only nice thing they have but the property is very loud (dogs, cars, noise from people talking outside) WIFI they tell you works, but when you get there it does not.

Location of guest house is cool, cause it is outside thamel, means pretty quiet, but still very close to thamel. Rooms depends of which You get, first time I had one with old style bathroom - not very good looking :), but second time I stayed there the room had reconstructed bathroom and it was very nice feeling :) I usually had badluck for hot shower, had to wait until the water get hot, or take cold one. the garden is lovely, very nice to take breakfast or lunch there. Food was okay, nice curry and momo! Just dont take tofu in cheese garlic sauce served with rice!!

Stayed a few nights before and after my trekking trip. The location is slightly outside Thamel, but not too far. Rooms are basic and occasionally did not have hot water for my shower (luck of the draw on which room you get). Lovely garden, peaceful location, everything is clean and functional. Definite value for money. No issues with anything at all, the hotel also has a luggage storage facility for keeping kit that I didn't need on the trek, everything was as I left it when I returned.

The room was very very simple, but it was quite big and we had a nice balcony. The bathroom was very basic and the shower not very useful. They did have hot water.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can have breakfast in the lovely sunny garden, very nice. They also have a nice restaurant with a cosy fireplace and good food.
The location is good, quiet, but not far from Thamel. A good place if you're on a budget.

Working in Kathmandu on a regular basis, I have spent many months staying at the Tibet Peace Guest House.

Not only do the staff make you feel at home but many of the guests seem to return year after year.

Located in Paknajol just across the main road from Thamel, peace can be found in the tranquil garden. The small road outside has no passing traffic either making this a very desirable location.

There is an assortment of rooms with and without attached bathrooms. The decor is basic but functional. Most of the rooms have separate hot water supplies and TV is available if required.

The lobby is sociable with TV and games provided and the friendly atmosphere always provides genial conversation for the lone traveler.

Breakfast can be enjoyed in the spacious garden, something of a rarity in Kathmandu and the kitchen provides a good selection of meals for the times you are too lazy to walk the 100 meters into Thamel.

This is a budget hotel with few frills but is exceptional value for money and the service is superior to many places that charge far more.

The only issue is finding someone to move out so you can have their room!
