S & I stayed two days when we first arrived Kathmandu. Our flight got delay one day, we emailed the ACME guest house, and they came to pick us up automatically on second day arrival. We really appreciated since it was our first time to KTM. The room was basic and clean. That is all we wanted for the price we paid. We booked the economy room, which provided the public share bathroom. The bathroom was decently clean with hot water!! The breakfast was also included - two eggs, sausage, toasted breads, coffee, tea, and juice. For the price we paid around Thamel area, it was unbeatable!!! The owner was very nice and flexible on our requests. He would go around and make sure you stay comfy in his place. The Guest house is located right in the center of Thamel market. Choices of food market, hiking goods, restaurants are unlimited. Highly recommend the Guest house if you want to travel within budget and decent place! Btw, after we finished trekking from Pokhara, we ended stay additional two nights before we took off from KTM! :)

We were absolutely delighted to have your stay in our place and we would like to thank you from the bottom of our heart for your such a lovely stay. Moreover, we are honored that you wrote such a wonderful words of compliment for our place and we truly do not have words to express or gratitude towards you. Whatever we did was just a part of our service and we are even prepared to go beyond our duty to make you feel our warmest hospitality and a service. We truly believe in an honest hospitality and we consider ourselves worth lucky that guests like you had been in our place. Having said that, we would be more than happy to have you again and again in the future so that we could turn our place your home away from home.

We had a very good stay in Acme guesthouse. Especially liked the garden, nice and quiet in the middle of busy Thamel. Perfect to have breakfast, to read a book or to relaxt after a day of sightseeing. The rooms are big and the staff was helpfull.

In Thamel, good location; good service, what's more important is good owner and staffs. Staffs are working happily, and this simply means good management. All these good things then relay a comfortable feeling to the customers. It certainly does not have the facilities like 5 star hotel, but it makes you feel like at home with a lots of smiles and 'namaste'.

A place with decent amenities. A easy go environment.
The owner was a very helpful guy whether it is local issues or knowledge about the terrain.
Price was good. Service was bit slow. But in the whole it is a good stay and worth for price.

Room Tip: Try to book in advance and a price range of Rs 1800 per night will get you best of the rooms. Also...

I spent 3 nights in the Deluxe triple (room 307) and it was spacious enough for 3 people. WIFI dropped in and out in this room and there was a drainage problem in the shower. The shower itself had no pressure. Room US $45 per night.

I returned and stayed in the US$8 economy twin room. WIFI was perfect in this room. No private bathroom but the 'shared' one at the end of the small floor was clean and was private (one person at a time). Shower pressure here was perfect.

Would I return to Acme? Yes, but the economy room would do just fine. Price disparency not worth it for the more expensive room.

TIP: Kathmandu Guest house is just down the road, so if returning to Thamel by taxi just give the name of that hotel and walk the one minute. Not every taxi driver knows Acme

I am writing this review after returning to Acme for the 2nd time. The first time I stayed in this hotel was in May 2010. During that time, there was a Maoist strike in full swing which meant no businesses could open and no cars were allowed on the road. Despite all this, the owner still managed to arrange all our flights, travel and acoommadation for our Everest Base Camp trek AND got us a vehicle in the middle of the night to the airport - even though it potentially could have been smashed if caught on the road by the Maoists.

I returned there again in Oct 2013 to do the Annapurna trek. Again, Mr. Siwakoti arranged everything for us with the utmost of ease. We did our trek and were finishing up when we were involved in a head-on car collision where we nearly lost our lives. Nepal is a tough country and not the place for such an accident to happen if you expect the same care and attention as you would get at home. After two days of people trying to rip us off for transport to hospitals, inadequate medical attention (we were lucky to escape relatively unscathed, but some of our party were not) and generally feeling like the world was against us, we were so happy to get back to Acme guest house. Immediately the staff rallied around us, arranged beds on the ground floor for us, provided us with phones to ring the consulate. Mr. Siwakoti also refunded one of our party their money on the spot for the Everest trek, as they would be too injured to complete the trek.

Chaabi Siwakoti and his staff are honest, trustworthy, helpful and friendly people. As westerners, some people in Nepal can try to make money out of us, as is their wont. But not this hotel or their staff - their customers are treated with the utmost respect.

I am not affiliated with this hotel in any way - I first found it via another website in 2010 - but have since gained such good service that I feel I can now call Mr. Siwakoti a friend.

I would HIGHLY recommend staying here when in Kathmandu and arrange ALL your trekking needs here as well - you will not be disappointed in any way, shape or form.

Keep up the good work!!

Room Tip: Book a garden-facing room!
