Travel to Nepal arrived at the T.I.A of Nepal. i saw my name on the board of waiting room. i was wonder like OH"""" free pick-up and drop.when i reach at hotel it was central of THAMEL the hotel family wore so homely and friendly. i thought i am among the my old friends who knows me from long times i feel like Oh" again. Free Information at the lobby to make your stay more enjoyable, if you just go to other place just pay your rent and just checkout and check-inn but here they all the time try to help and try to make feel better& smooth. many verities of rooms&effort-able prize, good and testy continental&local foods inside the hotel also the free internet and Wi-fi.was perfect..
{YOgi} the manager of the Hotel who is one of the good man i have ever mate in Nepal friendly behavior and helpful any time as needed. have some good memories when Yogi had took out for the drinks was so fun, was local place which is most interesting things for the foreigners to know about the locality.
had some tour to {NAGARKOT} 2hrs by Drive&stooped at recommended place of YOGI, was perfect. the view from NAGARKOT was so clean beautiful panoramic Himalaya was surrounding by us. also middle of the great Himalayan range i saw the highest mountain of the world Mt Everest -8848 mtr A.S.l. .
{POKHARA} was unexplainable and the weather was really nice really i remember when i was informed by Yogi while i was on the car way to hotel after leave Airport this is PashupatiNath's Temple and i had pray{Namaste}, now that might be i am blessed by the god {Shiva}. and then{Chitwan National Park} Elephant riding saw many animals&elephant bath at the river was excellent. was all organized by Hotel manager{YOGI} thanks for the accommodation&safe tour willing to see you again in NEPAL.
and all the viewer who wanna go to Nepal please steep-in once at Hotel Silver home. its not just Silver Home i say it's Golden home.

Room Tip: upon your budget, has many verities clean and fine room mostly room are big good view and quieter..

One of the biggest concerns with worldwide travel would be the hassle and/or confusion involved with transits, check-ins, visas, arranged tours, etc. With Hotel Silver Home, our rooms were booked via email and they were as good as their word. The airport pick up was there upon arrival and everything went smoothly from there. The rooms may appear dated, but they are kept clean (I spilled some moisturizer on the carpet, cleaned it up with tissue, and the tissue came up spotless, apart from the moisturizer!) The hotel staff were extremely accommodating and will do their utmost best to ensure your satisfaction. Yogi (manager), Raj (tour manager) and their driver even took me out to a local bbq place outside of Kathmandu to sample their local cuisine on my last night there. Good times!

The tour agency linked to the hotel (mosaic tours) was also great. Thanks to their advice and bookings, we had a wonderful value for money 7 day tour of Nepal. Can't wait to return in my next holiday!

The hotel is right in the middle of the main tourist section of Kathmandu and the staff are really great. It seems that the rooms have just been renovated and as hotels in the area go, personally i think the service is very good and the price is great considering the location. The airport pickup is also a plus but the best thing is probably the staff, esspecially Yogesh who went beyond the usual hotel level of service and actually took me out and showed me places in the city, which as a solo backpacker is fantastic! its always nice to meet such friendly people who are local and get to know the city from the inside.

it is the central places of the Thamel area for travellers.
If you like silence, the hotel of lane is better for you.
Because lot of bands in Thamel, It is silence after 12:30 - 1:00.
It is convenience for foods & restaurants & night liviing (for relax, alike music,shopping.....)

In the tourist area, the Thamel section, of Kathmandu, this place is a wonderful location. Thamel can be very busy and noisy. but the Hotel Silver Home is in the middle of the action, but tucked around 2 corners for being quiet and peaceful. The staff is friendly with smiles, effective with quick service, and helpful with a sense of loyalty. This all combines into a feeling of coming to a safe caring home at the end of each day's adventure. I personally enjoyed the breakfasts and the hotel's internet. The hotel driver waited several hours for us at the domestic airport, while we took our wonderful mountain flight over Mount Everest.

The Hotel was filled with international travelers from: USA, Australia, China, Japan, India, Germany, England, and more. a reservation is a good idea, sense the hotel is book-up most of the time. When a friend of ours showed up without a reservation, the hotel was full, the hotel owner/manager personally took her to other hotels to find the right room at the best deal.

This is not an American 5 start hotel, but this February, 2012, they have renovated the hotel improving the place and the beds. For many reasons this is the best place to stay in Kathmandu.

Room Tip: Tell the staff what you want. All rooms are quiet, with hot water, but only some have TVs. I like ha...

Coming to a country as different as Nepal as a solo female traveler can be a bit scary, but this place really makes you feel at home. They even pick you up from the airport, which is a life saver because the crush of Taxi drivers would have been just absolutely overwhelming!

Once you arrive check in couldn't be easier. Yogesh, who runs the place is so friendly and helpful! He really makes you feel right at home the instant you walk in :) He can even help you make travel arrangements to see other parts of Nepal which really takes the guesswork out of everything. The rooms are neat and really for the price are an amazing value. Plus the location is the best of both worlds. It's centrally located in the main tourist area of Nepal, but because it's set down a bit of a back way, it's quiet.

I'm so glad that I made Hotel Silver Home my first stop on this trip. Not having ever really traveled before I was really nervous to be so far away from home on my own, but now I really feel like I'll always have a place in Kathmandu.

Thanks Yogesh!

We booked to stay here partly because of the reviews on TA. Mr Yogesh Lama the owner is a very nice friendly young gentleman and very quick to answer emails. Our pickup from the airport went without a hitch and was very welcome -top marks!

The hotel is situated behind the main Thamel drag which means it is quieter but also a little difficult to find if you're not familiar with the back streets. We chose to book a 'super deluxe room' for $14 a night. Unfortunately the pictures on the website are a little out of date and the rooms are now quite tired and shabby, especially the bathroom.

Please note I am reviewing this hotel on Nepal standards not European as I am married to a Nepali and am used to the culture there and do not have unrealistic expectations.

The bathroom fixtures were basically falling off the walls and this was a little disconcerting when you're trying to wash! Water was being wasted by a faulty tap (and water is precious in Kathmandu) The room was acceptably clean but very worn and rickety with torn carpets etc.

Once we got a few tips out to the young guys on the staff service to the room was very good ;-) extra blankets etc.

As we visited in January it was cold at night & we rented a calorgas (propane) heater from the hotel - about 350NPRs per day, a good idea if you feel the cold.

The tea (traditional milk tea) was ok but the food was awful! It was served with friendliness & willing but it was very bad.

I would advise the very nice owners to maybe give a kick up the butt to the maintenance & food parts of his business - I have previously stayed in a pristine simple guest house in Nepal with excellent basic food for the same rate - and then he'd have the top guesthouse in KTM!
