We just held the bienneial IFIP Wg9.4 conference at Soaltee. As the conference chair, I could not have made a better choice. The staff were earnest, eager, polite and prompt in offering whatever services we required. Throughout the whole process, starting with planning, negotiating conference room rates, and other logistics such as meeting rooms, meals, and then working out the details, the staff were throughly professional and collaborative. My main contact was the sales manager Ms. Sabina Dangol who while a tough negotiator, was accomodative to our suggestions and did all she could to comly with our requests. The banquet staff, starting with the manager down to the wait staff were amiable and always smiling. The conferene attendees all were full of praise and at the final session, we asked the staff to be presented to the delagtes and they received a warm round of applause.
The stay itself was very comfortable and the food was absolutely delicious.
Next time I or my organization hold a conference in Kathmandu, I won't think of looking at another property. Neither, I recommend should you! Oh, I will also stay there on leisure trips.

When considering an accommodation in Kathmandu, this hotel is a perfect place to stay. The location is very nice and rooms are spacious. We stayed overnight on our first day of vacation in Nepal and stayed another 2 nights back in Kathmandu.

The only thing that we had experienced that is quite disappointing was that the electricity is tripping off many times. I had a shower and all of the sudden the power switched off. The staff at the Reception are unfriendly and the food in the Club Lounge is awful. Very few choices.

Overall, enjoyed the scenery and the view from our room, the swimming pool was nice and food in the Chinese restaurant is very good.

We would like to thank you for your stay with us and your feedback, which go a long way in improving our hotel standards and services. Due to the voltage fluctuation in the electricity from the main electric supply grids the hotel generators did face tripping for which we apologise for the inconvenience that you faced whilst you stayed with us.

Look forward to welcoming you back to Soaltee Crowne Plaza Kathmandu on your next visit to Nepal.

For the last five years we have been traveling to Kathmandu and we always stay at the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Hotel. The location is good, the food is excellent and above all is the quality of service. The staff are polite, helpful and so eager to please. We have seen that the hotel continues to improve its installations which we applaud Good health club.

stayed at this hotel for 3 nights to attend a conference...compared to other crowne plaza properties such as beijing, manila, london and chicago, i would say that it is not quite up to par... but considering that this hotel is in nepal, i would say this is a much safer choice for business and leisure.. it is not a city center type hotel , but given the condition, or situation , i figured it was secure to stay in.. rooms are functional, limited lcd tv channels, bathroom and toilet leaves much to be desired, and i wont elaborate.. coffeeshop serves adequate buffet asian offerings with little western consideration, it has an outdoor pool, internet a little pricey, ballroom where we attended the conference was good, biggest advantage of this hotel is the staff , where it seems they are sincere , friendly and honest...

Room Tip: avoid views that look out into sewerage systems

Soaltee is not as grand as it used to be.
To start with, the rooms are dingy lit.
Not very airy or fresh appeal to the entire property.
The swimming pool is a better place to spend time.

The Casino is HORRIBLE!
its dead on a saturday night.. so nothing really to talk about.
We just went on a relaxation trip
so spent most of our time in Thamel with lot of coffee and good food.

Wish it could stand up to its near 5 star status!

CREA held the Count Me In! Conference at the hotel from 16th April till 18th April, 2011 for 300 participants. the conference was impeccably organised by the hotel and every minute detail was taken care of professionally. The hotel staff are very well trained and their hospitality and customer relations is beyond comparison.
The group had a lovely conference and cheers to all the Soaltee staff and management.
The hotel had specially for our conference designed 4 extra disabled friendly rooms and had constructed ramps for disabled participants for accessiblity. We could not have had this conference anywhere else since Soaltee went beyond limits in making their hotel disbaled friendly..the first of its kind in Kathmandu.

Overall this is an excellent hotel with some outstanding features. It is an older property, but the rooms, and furnishings, have been kept in excellent order. Everything was spotlessly clean, and well maintained. Customer Service was excellent, the staff were attentive and helpful.

The outstanding feature of this hotel is it's grounds, it is located inside a gated and secure park. You escape from the chaotic hustle and bustle of Kathmandu into a peaceful and serene haven. These grounds are meticulously kept, and lovely to wander around.

Breakfast was very good, with a large range of Asian and western foods available, however when we stayed the hotel was hosting a conference with many attendees. Thus, breakfast was very busy, and some of the conference attendees were yet to appreciate the value of queuing, patience and good manners.

Rooms were very comfortable, the bed was excellent. There are basic provisions within the bathroom. Everything worked perfectly in the room. I would happily stay at the Crowne Plaza again.
