I had been posted in Kathmandu from May 2001 to Mar 2002. Since then - I was very much keen on taking my daughter (she was born in 2002 Aug), to Nepal, and stay at Hotel Annapurna. 10 years back - things were not much diufferent at Annapurna casino, lawn, Swinning pool and the grreat bar. It has all improved very much - sorry - so has the price of stay.
We went to find out the changes - and to our surprise - the live band is the same - the artists have improved. The casino is same - the machines have been renovated, so the ambience has increased. The free drinks - snacks have remained the way they were.

Kathmandu has changed - not so beautiful anymore - overcrowded. The same tuktuk, taxi, but increased traffic.

But the Annapurna staff and manager compensates for that - they offer the best in the industry service - in tune with the prestige of the hotel.
Local sightseeing arrangement was so-so, the car was nice, and the guide(although not needed) was very friendly.
Annapurna is placed at a very beautiful location adjoining the palace and Thamel (The shopping and nightspot area).
The swinning pool needs a special mention, adjoining the lawn, it is a nice place to spend family evenings.
We had to move on to the Pokhra, Chitwan trip and so after a stay of 3 days, we left with fond memories.

I hv stayed in this propeerty around 5 times. This is one of the hot property in Kathmandu on Kingsway ( Darbar Marhg ) . Nice hotel , with ample parking. In the main market. New road is just on the walking diatance ( 20 min walk ) Kingsway is heart of Kathmandu.

Hotel is located at the most central area of the capital city.
Our room looked towards the green area below which was fascinating indeed. Its pride of nepal and also adjacent to a modern casino.
overall good experience.

I stayed with my family during the Christmas break of 2009. The hotel is one of its kind in Kathmandu and showcases the local tradition of Nepal. The staff was appreciably warm and helpful. The location of the hotel is one of the best in Kathmandu and gives lot of options to tourists to pop out in the attractive by-side market.

The rooms were extremely smelly and the beds were like sleeping on the floor so we moved to the deluxe room in the new wing but even those rooms were bad. The food was like Fear Factor food. At the time there was a strike in Nepal so we were forced to have a ridiculously expensive buffet dinner at the hotel which was gross. When they cleaned he rooms they didn't even use detergant! The pool was all green and slimey. very scruffy hotel which is falling apart. :(
