The Hyatt Regency in Kathmandu is a great place to stay.
I and my husband stayed there for 3 nights in August 2009, and the service we received was very good.
The hotel is nice and clean and the staff is very friendly and service minded.
On the down side is that it is a bit far out of the city centre, but this can be solved with a quick and cheap taxi ride. And then you get to experience the great atmosphere in Boudha.
The room was a bit worn down, as was the corridors but the reception area, pool area and restaurants were in good conditions.

My wife and I recently returned from a wonderful trip to India and Nepal. Among the amazing sights and excellent hotels and warm people that we met at every location during that trip, one experience stands out.

Our four night stay at the Hyatt Regencey Hotel in Kathmandu, Nepal was, without a doubt, one of the best hotel experiences that we have had in our many years of traveling. Of course the exotic location of Kathmandu, and the beautiful architecture and grounds of the hotel had something to do with this sense of peace and harmony that we experienced.

But, we feel it had more to do with the really friendly staff who always went out of their way to accommodate our every request, no matter how small, with a genuinely warm smile. Even more exceptional, was the personal presence and helpfulness of the General Manager, a Mr. Gadi Hassan.

It seemed that he was everywhere, starting with monitoring the breakfast offerings and service up to and including visiting the special guest lounge, where he took the time to teach, and play with me, a local board game called Tigers and Goats.

When one of the elderly ladies who were traveling with us suddenly took ill, he was there to give his best advice and recommended a local clinic, where the doctors spoke English. She recovered in a day or two and was able to complete the trip on time. It is apparent that he really cares about everything that goes on in the hotel that he manages and personally sees to it that all personnel have the same attititude.

I could go on, but suffice to say that we look forward to one day returning to this fine hotel in one of the most exotic cities in the world.
