“Average Hotel”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

Visited this hotel twice with family and had 4 premium rooms ... first for 2 nights and than 1 night as we had already pre-booked.
This hotel has 2 wings, the old and the new wing. We were kept in the new wing. the rooms have modern decor and are clean. The old wing rooms give smell of pest control.

The restaurant buffet menu for the non veg is ok but for the vegetarian, certainly not up to the mark. The service there is also very poor. You might have to wait for 10-15 min for a glass of water !!

The bathroom inside the rooms have glass walls with curtains but in some rooms the curtains are not properly placed that make it awkward for the user as the other person in the room can see through.

Overall its an average hotel with good location but poor services. At best a business hotel and not desired for tourists. Not a 5 star material !!

Very nice room in the new wing. No disturbance from the convention hall although there was a party going on the first night. The free wifi was very fast. The lady at the Travel Desk was very helpful ; efficiently organised sight seeing for us and gave us information regarding entrance fees etc. The buffet breakfast was very good, with slightly different items each day. We crossed to the old building for breakfast but later found out it was also available at the restaurant on the third floor of the new wing. There were constant power cuts but the generator cut in smoothly each time.

Room Tip: Stick to the new wing

I was there for business and the location is very good.

I stayed in the new building an on-suite room. The room is new and well designed, most importantly the air condition works really well. It’s good idea to have an on-suite room so we can have some meetings in my room rather than going to cafés or restaurants which tend to be very hot.

The only down side of staying in the new building is you have to cross a little road to get to the hotel lobby and breakfast area.

We have some other staff members staying in the old building, they all complained the air condition is weak and rooms are old. It is worthwhile to stay in the new building for slightly high fee.

There is a nice and clean massage place close to the hotel and some shops you can spend some time/money if you don’t want to go to the main street.

Room Tip: Stay in the new building

Excellent no complaints hotel in the centre of Kathmandu, very close to Thamel. Unlike most hotels in Kathmandu, no power cuts, the AC runs smoothly. The hotel is located very close to Thamel the shopping destination. Food is quite good. Really no complaints

I stayed here for the first time in 2007. I again stayed in 2014 as I was attending a workshop. After reminding them several times, they forgot to pick me up from the airport. I was given a room in the old building. The room was really old and the carpets smelled. The second day, they had sprayed air freshener all over! The breakfast was the same everyday and the service at the restaurant was not great - there was not sufficient food and not enough waiters. Most of the time, I had to skip breakfast as there was not enough food. It was also always crowded with tourists. The location is good. My colleagues in the new building said it was much better. But the guards outside are extremely friendly and greeted every time we passed! I would not stay here again, uncles my office books me!!

Room Tip: Maybe the new building?

We stayed here for three days after a ten-day trip to India. The hotel is average, but the location and the shopping/restaurants around it make it better. If you are a shopper but don't want to have to find stores or ask for recommendations, this is the hotel for you. Right outside the hotel (literally about a ten-second walk), you can find at least twelve stores selling everything from paintings to calendars to cds to clothes to figurines. The shop owners are so nice and friendly and are very familiar with tourists. There is also a fair-trade store down the street. This hotel has an "extension" across the street with a garden rooftop cafe. One night, our group went there for drinks and had a nice time. It closed at 1030 though, which I thought was early for a hotel bar. The view from the pool is great, and some of the fitness equipment is outside and has a view of the pool/city. In addition, expect intermittent power outages, but that is normal, and they only last for about a minute. Overall, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a view of the parking lot/entrance while others have a view of the city (which we ha...

This was my first experience with Radisson, but really expected better. To start with the cleanliness, first time in my life saw the food plates everywhere in the corridor...in front of the rooms, while coming back from work in the evening. The air-conditioning does not work in the night, so sweated almost every night during my stay for four nights in mid May. Breakfast is terribly monotonous, same stuff repeated everyday without much variety. Regarding wifi, you would understand its really complementary. Among few good things: food otherwise is really good, and served promptly while ordered for in-room dining. Front desk is friendly and efficient enough.

Room Tip: No preference
