situated right in the heart of bustling tourist spot in Thamel. clean room, reasonable room rate, wifi, in house facilities such as money changer, ATM, restaurant, spa and book shop. In house tour planning with ready transport available at all time. Shopping in Thamel makes easy by staying in KGH, varieties of food choices, shopping for varieties of shawls, heritage site is within walking distant.

Room Tip: garden view rooms are a better choice

Perfect location in the heart of Thamel with everything you need within a stones throw away. The hotel itself is perfect in everything you'd expect - clean rooms, comfortable beds and ample rooms to spill the contents of your suitcase and repack. The wifi worked well but the hotel is on the main power grid without a backup so expect periods where there's no electricity.

Staying in KGH has been a very pleasant experience, both as a tourist, and as a business traveller. The rooms with a garden view are very comfortable, and a good place to refresh oneself after sightseeing Kathmandu. And it is an added plus that everybody knows where it is - it is a landmark in Kathmandu. All staff are very professional, and demonstrate much willingness to help and assist making the stay comfortable and easy. The assistance we received to conduct a workshop in the hotel was very adequate, and a positive experience as well for Nepalese as for foreign participants. Staying in this historic guesthouse is highly recommended, both for families and solo travelers.

Room Tip: Rooms with a garden view is all that I have tried, but they are very romantic and comfortable.

On a trip to Nepal in 2013 my friends and I stayed at the Guest House both on our arrival and our departure. The room I had upon arrival was not great but I was so exhausted I ignored the bare bones bathroom and the hard bed. We mentioned our lack of satisfaction to the gentlemen who manage the Guest House and they assured us that better rooms would be available when we returned. And they were--we had lovely rooms, some with balconies, and big luxurious bathrooms. Apparently, depending on the price you are willing to pay, there are multiple levels of comfort available. The Guest House now even has a very modern and elegant addition which is much more expensive but available to those who want it. I enjoyed my stay, especially the second time!

Room Tip: Do not request the least expensive rooms.

I would recommend this hotel for someone looking for great location and a comfy stay. It's not a 5 star of course but having spent 2 weeks in volunteer accommodation it almost felt like it! In the very heart of Thamel it is just a stones throw to good local restaurants as well as Western ones if you are missing your routine. A great supermarket just outside of the gate that sells EVERYTHING you will possibly need. Close to lots of attractions too and I did ALL my sightseeing on foot from this hotel. A lively night time spot too pretty much everyday you'll be sure to make friends and explore more. Moving onto India afterwards highlights how polite, helpful, clean and easy the staff were. Happy to help with printing tickets, taxis and accepting of a 2 hour late check-out without any hassle. I hope you enjoy your stay here! The vegetable Momo's are a must to try in the restaurant!! The gated and security staffed entrance isn't daunting and a welcome show of a safe establishment.

Room Tip: Be sure to book a hotel room with a bathroom! I heard there were some that were shared....

This hotel is rich with history (George Harrison used to stay here). It's iconic late 19th century architecture makes you feel as though you are transported into a another epoch altogether. Great staff and terrific food. An oasis smack in the middle of Kathmandu's bustling city.
