“great spot!”
Reviewed 8 April 2014

Really enjoyed this place. Close 5 minute walk to Thamel and many convenient spots while just being outside of it down a quiet alley so you can actually sleep! The room was very well decorated and very clean. Only if you are over 180cm I might think about whether you'll leave with a concussion as the ceilings are very low (as is the case in many places in Kathmandu you'll find). The owner was very helpful with us and very friendly. Would stay again

Little jewel tucked off the main drag so..... peaceful nights.
A building that holds your imagination of its history with its old world charm. Found orientation easy and timely on late night return from evenings in the Thamel hub. There is a great restaurant next to the chowk that offers cooking lessons and student cooks who can make some great food and real coffee..

Kathmandu B&B is a nice place with walk distance to Thamel. The room is nicely decorated with all the facilities. People there are very friendly and helpful, we got a very warm welcome from them, which made us feel like from home to home. They offer us pick-up service and also the package for trekking and tour to Chitwan, which is convenient. However the wifi signal in the room is not very stable, sometimes you need to use the wifi in the garden. The breakfast is nice, but you have to wait for a bit long time. We spent our first night there, and later on we chose to went back for another two nights, cause it is indeed a good place to stay.

Kathmandu B&B Inn has character. You'll get a unique room decorated with random knick knacks, a warm welcome, airport pickup and breakfast for about $30. It's within walking distance of Thamel and Durbar Square. But a warning: if you are 5 ft 8 in or more you're going to feel like a giant in a dollhouse. The ceilings are very low.

Make sure you know what is included in the price you agreed to, such as breakfast and airport pickup. The manager is great and is very communicative, but reception may not have all the right details.

If you're taking a taxi here tell the driver to take you to Chhetrapati Chowk, which is a well-known intersection. The B&B is tucked away in a small side street so chances are the driver won't be helpful beyond the intersection. Best to call ahead of time so that the B&B can pick you up or meet you somewhere near the intersection.

Room Tip: The rooms are quite different; ask to take a look at different rooms before agreeing to one.

I had a fabulous stay at this family-like Inn, where the building itself is amazing and the people who work there make sure you do feel at home. I am a solo lady who was here for over 2 weeks and even received caring phone calls while I was on Safari at Bardia National Park, to ensure I was safe while there. That sort of "caring" is rare, and this was from genuine caring people. The fact that this Inn is only a few seconds walk to food places and shopping is an added bonus, although with a big yummy breakfast each morning I was not looking for food until much later in the day. I recommend this as a place to stay for it's uniqueness in many ways. The garden even has rose bushes. Enjoy.

Room Tip: My beautiful room had an ensuite and balcony and included breakfast so it was a good start to the da...

This place offers a serviced apartment for the price of a cheap hotel room. It is situated near Brittish school and UN headquaters.
Shopps and transport is on your doorstep and 15 minutes walk will take you to some of the best restaurants in Kathmandu popular with expats. By the way, ATMs are also located near the restaurants and the UN headquarters. The local taxi stand is 30 meters away and for the more daring there are two safa tempos (small local electric buses). Kathmandu B & B has a generator - a very useful thing for the power cutts that occur here regularly. You'll need your heater on cold nights.
Staff are very pleasant and helpfull - they get you a 20 liter drinking water jar (costs about $1) so that you don't have to keep buying it in bottles. Suitable especially for stays of more than 3 days. Nights are very quiet and conducive to a good nights sleep. Downstairs restaurant provides breakfast, also serves lunch and dinner.
WiFi internet connection is available free of charge and a telephone shop 20 meters away will charge you 3 rupees per minute for overseas calls. Local supermarkets have lovely local cheese and yoghurt. Fresh eggs, fruit and vegetables galore.
For those who have their own mobile handset: go to the paper shop (25 meters away) and get a local pre-paid SIM card. The owner speaks English.
I stayed here for 7 weeks and was very satisfied.

Room Tip: Top apartments have the best views but there is no lift.
