We stayed in hotel for 3 days. It was a memorable experience for us..hotel staff was too cooperative, down to earth in nature.. my wife and me decided to explore Kathmandu apart from our itenary inclusions & these guyz guided us for the same, told us about famous street foods, Kathmandu specialities, etc.. hatsoff to them..
About the location of hotel.. it is hardly1-2 kms far from heart of the city.. all the must visit places are just situated at walking distances...
I will suggest this hotel to everyone...
The menu of the hotel contains yummy preparations n taste.. must try masala tea of this hotel...

It was first trip to Nepal and I was worried. But the staff took best care of us and the rooms are excellent. The food was excellent with special care to make Veg dishes. The heater was working excellent.

Room Tip: Take a room facing the terace.

Need I say more? Perfect this time around. Thank you Ambassador Chauni management team. I promise to come back to you, sometime in 2015! I was here back in April 2013 and I must say that this time, I have noticed so many improvements. I just wanna suggest though for them to expand the choice of their breakfast meals. And...uhm....maybe include departure from hotel a complementary service as well, just like airport pick-up. The power reduction in the hotel should also be minimal (but this is partly due to the government's issue). Well that's pretty much it. More on wishes and not complaints. Thanks again. Aries

Room Tip: Any room is good. This hotel is in a quiet area. :)

KIO: Photography Masterclass Workshop took place at the Ambassador Chauni Apartment Hotel during December 2013.
On behalf of the KIO team I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff for making our stay so memorable, and for assisting us with all our requirements through out the duration of our stay.

The Ambassador Chauni Apartment Hotel was recommended to us by our manager Suraj Ratna Shakya. We were informed that the hotel would be the best place in Kathmandu to facilitate a workshop of this kind. We were not disappointed and are very happy to say that Ambassador Chauni AH delivered on every front to make us, our clients and extended KIO team very welcome.

We were very impressed with the efficient communications of your staff before arrival and throughout the duration of our stay, and we felt confident with the administrative and organisational planning for our workshop. Your staff were courteous and very accommodating, ensuring that we were able to provide our clients with a seamless and comfortable stay.

We found that the apartment style hotel had a lot to offer us in terms of comfort, with a lovely spacious area where we could work together with our clients in a relaxed and informal manner.
It was a little home from home for our KIO family and we liked that a lot!

The kitchenette was equipt with some basic utensils, such as a kettle which came in handy for endless cups of tea and coffee. There wasn't much else in terms of plates, cutlery or glass-ware but we understand that this is being supplied to all apartments in due course. This would be helpful for those who would like to make good use of self catering in future. Anything lacking was promptly provided for upon request.
One of the nice things about staying here is that you can order food from out-side and eat in your apartment as well as cook too if that takes your fancy but then some pans would need to be supplied for that purpose. We didn't find it necessary to cook as it was easier to eat in the dining room, order in or go out.

We were very happy with our accommodation. The rooms were spacious, bright and clean. A little more attention to dusting behind the cupboards and on top of wardrobes wouldn't go a miss! :) Not a big deal though as the rooms were serviced every day by very polite and charming staff. The beds were very comfortable and the linen was spotless. An added bonus was that the rooms were lovely and warm, so it was very pleasant to be snug and cosy at this colder time of year in KTM.
The bathrooms were fresh, bright and spotless with lots and lots of hot water, spotless towels and a hair dryer.

We made use of the presentation room which was excellent for our needs. We were given the freedom to move things around as we wished. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided for all our guests, staff and participants on our opening and presentation days. Its an excellent space for meetings and gatherings and the bonus is that you can have both formal or casual meetings and presentations as the room lends itself to your personal adjustments.

Overall the food was good with a menu that was comprehensive enough. Your chef provided a menu to suit most palettes. Some of the food was a little heavy on the salt so you might like to concentrate on adding more depth of flavour to each meal . We felt that the breakfast menu could be improved a little by adding some muesli, curd and fruit, a choice of fresh items from the bakery and pancakes. We asked for pancakes and were gratefully served pancakes - thank you for that :)

It would be nice to see food not served as you believe Westerners would like it but rather to go with you heart and soul and cook, present and serve like so many great places in Kathmandu - the Nepalese way!
I think, for any one staying long term the food could be a little repetitive but that can happen anywhere. However on the plus side, we discussed the menu with Uttam the manager, who was very supportive and took our comments on board, which was very kind and generous of him. We were told that we could adapt the food to our specific needs and have anything we wanted, so this is very encouraging and kind.
There’s a lovely, spacious terrace where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner too.

The hotel is situated just 2 ½ kilometres from Swayambhunath temple and a 20-30 minute walk from Durbar Square. The nice thing about the location is that it is quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Thamel. The walk to Thamel is a great opportunity to see and experience the 'real' daily life of the local people.
Getting a taxi from Thamel to the hotel was easy . You won't find taxi's on the door step at the hotel which could be a problem if you needed one straight away. Its best to either walk down the road and pick up a taxi by the bridge or make sure you book one yourself for a specific time. The hotel staff were very accommodating to do their best to sort out a taxi when needed. We did raise the issue about the lack of available taxi's with the hotel and this is something which they are doing their best to improve upon.
In all fairness, you could always hang onto a driver you come across in Thamel and get his mobile number and book him when you know you need to go out. A fair price from Thamel to the hotel Ambassador Chauni will cost approximately NR200 one way during the day and maybe double in the evening.

There is a superb roof top where you get a full panoramic view of the city and mountains 360°. It would be nice to see this fabulous space put to better use where you could go and sit in the sun amid splashes of colour with greenery, tables & chairs. I would like to see some of those Indian hanging baskets to sit in but don't mind me I'm just day dreaming! Anyway, this is a a space waiting to happen :)

All in all we found that the Ambassador Apartment Hotel Chauni was a great place to stay. It suited us perfectly for all our needs, both on a business and personal level. We appreciate that the hotel has only been up and running for a year, so there is a slight feeling of newness about it. We do feel confident that as time moves on this place will settle into its self but for a new hotel, with its facilities, location and extraordinary lovely, kind and helpful staff, this will be the home and HQ for KIO for many years to come.

It is a family run business and that's what makes it so nice and comfortable in every way.

We most certainly plan to re visit you again. We have already discussed a future booking with Uttam Bajracharya for the next KIO Photography Masterclass in December 2014.

Once again, thank you so much for a very pleasant stay and in assisting us with KIO 2013.

Well done Ambassador Chauni!! We had a very excellent stay with you and we definitely look forward to another visit with enthusiasm in December 2014.

Thank you to all the staff for being so accommodating and gracious.

Namaste!
