“We stayed an extra night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2014

The cost was less than one half of another hotel we looked at. It was more than we expected for the price. We met a wonderful young lady named Poonam who was very helpful in suggesting things to see in the city and setting up taxi tours. The Grand was everything we needed in a hotel, good staff, good restaurant, clean room, air conditioning, continuous electricity and water and a taxi outside to take us where we wanted to go. We did not use the pool or fitness center.

Excellent new hotel, excellent service, low prices, so clean, well located in middletown (Thamel). All nearby, travel agencies, banks, pubs, shops, restaurants, go there! En espanol: es muy bueno, su personal muy atento, nuevo, limpo y barato. Recomendable.

Friendly hotel with a dash of colonial charm. Staff are very nice, there's a good restaurant on the top-floor (including a small separate bar area). Clean rooms and excellent room service. There are conference facilities as well, and while I was there, the Grand was host to an Indian wedding, which was great to see.

My only issues would be that the Grand is not particularly centrally located - although the Swayambhunath Temple is walkable (aka the 'Monkey Temple'). Also, they charge for WiFi - although it's free in the lobby and in the bar - but it's a very poor connection. This was a work trip, so I needed it quite badly. The service is probably quite bad for the whole of Kathmandu, but even so, the Grand shouldn't charge 500 rupees a day for it.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your extremely kind words. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay here at Grand. As for your issues with the wifi, we are sorry to hear that you found the connection poor. I will make sure the connection is fixed ASAP. Secondly as for the chargeable wifi, currently we are unable to provide free wifi throughout the hotel currently, however we are trying to provide the wifi for free in the near future. Just a tip- we are providing wifi for free you book with us online.

Thank you for taking your precious time out to write this review and hope to welcome you back again hopefully in the near future!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and will definitely come back when next in Nepal - good food; clean rooms with views of Kathmandu; efficient and friendly staff; and an extremely helpful and polite guest relation officer.
