My booking was arranged by my travel agency as most of the guests.
Its a good basis for a start to the country but nothing special. In the morning its very loud on the 2nd floor, because of cleening stuff and guests
Staff, restaurant and rooms opt for european standard but for me as an single traveler with interest in nepalese life there is not much one holds in this hotel. Staff was always very helpfull and friendly almost like in an european 5star hotel. Thanks but somehow it was odd for me.

Dear Mr. Daniela G

Thank you for your time and thank you for your review. Since, now is the very busy season time of the year , i'm sure the trekkers woke up early around 5-6 and starts coming down with their big bags and i think that's how you got disturbed .

This hotel is not 5 star, not even 3, but I have to give it excellent. I have stayed several times over the past decade. Coming back is a sure a sign as any that they have always been very welcoming, the rooms are clean, the staff uber helpful, and the location cannot be beaten as it's in the middle of all the chaos but you get some peace as it is tucked away. Been a mainstay for many, a little home from home when on your travels. Thanks Hotel Thamel.

If you just want to walk the streets of Kathmandu, this location is great. Just about every kind of market, gift shop, tea shop, and restaurants are within easy walking distance. The room was older, but I had hot water for the shower, the bed linens were clean and the staff was friendly. That's about all I could ask for. The A/C in my first room stopped working, they immediately moved me to another room without a problem.
No elevator. You'll be walking stairs to get to any room. There appears to be nicer hotels in the area, but I thought this one was a great hotel for the price.

Room Tip: No elevator. Unless you have young legs, be sure to ask for a room on a lower floor or you'll be...

Thank you for your wonderful review. We are trying our best to improve our hotel services and as a result we have replaced some old A/C with new ones. I suggest other guest who have stayed or are planning to stay in our hotel “Hotel Thamel” to let the management know about the problems in the rooms so that we can work on it accordingly to give you great hospitality in the future.

As for the elevator, you can ask for the rooms on lower floor during the time of booking if you have problems going up .

We look forward to welcoming you back in near future.

Best Regards,

There are temples for those interested in sightseeing but more important is that just about 2hiurs or so drive are places which are very scenic , like Nagarkot , which are good for overnight stays or for those keen on trekking and like hobbies

Room Tip: The rooms with their own private balcony are nice You can sit in the balcony Food is good too and...
