“Peace and quiet among chaos”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 November 2013

Just returned from a bout of trekking in Nepal (our first) and upon return to Kathmandu we were booked into the Samsara. It is located in Thamel district where you must stay. Everything is centrally located, great shopping, night life, good food, and you get a taste of the flavor of Nepal in this district. The hotel was airy with clean rooms, a large bed, a good bathroom, and friendly staff. It was located off the main street and was quiet and peaceful with good internet and TV connections. We had previously stayed in another hotel nearby and that was noisy and smelly. Friendly staff but the breakfast , even though adequate, could be better. After the trek it was a welcome affordable place to stay prior to leaving Nepal. The question is would I stay at the Samsara again, definitely. My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Samsara. The manager was friendly and made every effort to ensure that your stay was memorable...kudos to him..... Patrick and Chen.

Room Tip: A quiet place among chaos....any room will do.

My husband and I stayed here at the beginning and end of a tour. The hotel is very clean with friendly staff. The hot water was great, however, it smelt funny. We had to be moved on our last night to a different hotel because I think they overbooked.

It is located down an alley close to lots of shopping.

Stayed with friend in October. Rooms were clean friendly staff. The manager Puru is sweet and very bubbly. Always was greeted with a huge smile and a bit of a chat. Plumbing had a bit of a problem but the hot shower was good. Very central walking distance to everything. Its down the end of a alley way and had no problems with noise. We were in a suite on the 2nd floor. The breakfast was quiet good. Free wifi. Its not at all a 5 star hotel but clean and central. We went of to Bhutan for a week and was able to leave our luggage in the hotels luggage room. Yes I would stay here again.

Hotel was booked with Nepal Hiking Team. Rooms clean but a bit tired. Plumbing on the fifth floor was slow, but better on the 3rd floor. If you want hot bath/shower get up early and hot water in short supply in evenings. Breakfast was good. Free internet and staff very friendly. Close to the main tourist shopping area.

Room Tip: If booking make sure you ask for a double room otherwise you will be given twin beds.

Stayed at Samsara Resort while we were travelling in Nepal
The rooms are clean but the bed linen is a bit out dated it looks older than its 7 years the beds are a bit on the hard side & the plumbing is a bit sad overall if you want a cheap place to stay with personality this is the place
It's always busy with loads of tourists the breakfast was great service was accommodating & Puru the manager was a really funny character always laughing & smiling.
The location is in the heart of the markets are but it's down an alley so it is really quiet lovely garden to sit in & use the free wifi
Would recommend Samsara to anyone that's not into luxury but want a cheaper but clean place to stay that's right in the heart of Kathmandu

Room Tip: We stayed in room 206 heaps of space don't get rooms on the top floors small & there's n...

I stayed at Samsara at the beginning and end of a trekking holiday between 18 - 30 Sept. 2013. The rooms were booked for me by Himalayan Social. I would be happy to stay there again as the rooms and service were excellent for the cost.
