The Ganesh Himal is a realy nice place to stay, if you want to stay near Thamel in Kathmandu. It has a really nice garden with a restaurant in it. It's relativ quiet if you campare it with other places in Kathmandu (Kathmandu is a really noisy city). On every floor is a Balcony with sofas where you can relax. The rooms are very clean and big, but they don't look very modern. One of the best Hotels on my trip. The restaurant ist ok and its a good opportunity if you don't want to go to the city.
Thamel is only 5 minutes to walk and you can reach it easly.
On the rooftop you can relax and have a look at the people on the street.
The stuff is friendly and they organized me a bus ticket which was cheaper than everywhere else.
Thank you for the wonderful time.

Stayed here in a recommendation from a friend and very glad I did ! First impression
On arrival welcomed with a drink , and then shown to my room by the manger on duty and had all the hotel explained to me !
The Hotel has a balcony on each floor to relax on and chill and the back garden is Awesome !!
Just a magic place to have Breakfast in the morning , drinks in afternoon or evening ! Staff are always helpful and very polite , with any questions always met with prompt suggestions and good advice !
Best of all Very Quite ( even the doors have stickers that say No Slamming Doors ) well !!!!
If you don't stay here , well ! Best in Kathmandu for value and location

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking garden ! And levels with Balaconies on them !

We stayed 2 nights here at the end of our tour. Rooms are basic with comfy bed. Toilet were clean and specious. Foods are average and the service is very slow. Location is good coz it's not far from Thamel but far away from Thamel 's crowd. Hotel has a nice courtyard where people can relux. Staffs are nice and friendly. Overall it's a good hotel.

I stayed in hotel Ganesh Himal for one month whilst I was in kathmandu and I really did feel at home there. The staff were so wonderful and friendly, the service was exceptional. The facilities were the best that I had lived in during my travels in Nepal, the fact that there was a generator meant that the daily power cuts didn't really affect me at all. I lived in the new block, room 704 with a nice view out into the garden. The location of the hotel was also very convenient, it's a five minute walk from Thamel but it's still nice and secluded enough not to be ridiculously noisy at night as Thamel can get. i would definitely recommend coming to stay at this lovely hotel when you are in Kathmandu.

Room Tip: The new block has newly furnished rooms and is more luxurious with large rooms and air con equipped

This hotel is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Thamel (the main backupacker area of
kathmandu)
The bathrooms are spotlessly clean
The bed linen in our rooms 401 and 502 (we stayed twice) were clean and had been washed
Towels were provided
Room had a fan but no air con
Hotel has free wifi, a beautiful garden and free computers in the communal area
There is also a restaurant which we didn't use
Hotel staff are helpful
Really cheap
Because this hotel is away from the main area it is fairly quiet at night
