If you're looking to stay close to Thamel, yet avoid the hustle bustle that it comes along with, this is where you should stay. Clean and cosy, with helpful staff. Run by a Nepalese couple, giving it a homely feel. The wife was helpful and gave us some good tourist advise. The garden restaurant is pretty and quiet, to enjoy a nice breakfast and head out for the day. There is running hot water and prompt room service. It is around a residential area, about 10 minutes walk from main Thamel. We walked back at 11pm and felt quite safe, even though the area isn't very well lit.
In my opinion it was a bit overpriced and we were looking for a more central location, hence felt disappointed to some extent. But no complains as such. The best part is all cab drivers and locals know the hotel, so its very easy to get back, which was not the case with the other places we stayed at. All in all, a good experience.

We stayed at this hotel before and after trekking. The room was clean with plenty of hot water. It has a lovely garden where we ate breakfast every day. We also had one evening meal and the food was good. It's a stone's throw from Thamel but is like an oasis of quiet and calm. We'd definitely stay again.

The reason why we initially picked this hotel was because they offered a free airport pick up, and we were landing at Kathmandu late in the night. It was a pleasant surprise though, because the hotel had a cosy feel abut it, and was rather charming. The staff were friendly, and helpful as well, and helped us planning our entire trip, sightseeing, cab, tickets to Pokhara et all. The rooms were alright, nothing fancy, but clean and functional enough to stay in. A good experience, and just close enough to Thamel, so you're not in the heart of things, but can be if you want to.

Very clean and comfortable rooms. For better mattress and bath tub go for a deluxe room. Very friendly staff and they help you with anything you want in Katmandu like booking a taxi or a mountain flight to Everest or bus to Pokhara, anything... They even have a storage room (free of cost) where you can leave all your baggage if you going on trekking. The food at the hotel is above average. Hot water is available all the time. Free Wifi and computers to use in the lobby. This is an excellent hotel for a budget traveler.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms have AC and bath tubs and rooms are quite big.

I stayed at this property on several occasions during my recent six week visit to Nepal. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The standard room I booked was clean with plenty of hot water and the heater was a real plus! I ate in the small restaurant which I enjoyed and the convenience of free internet access in the lobby was very handy. While Thamel is a very busy section of Kathmandu, the Ganesh Himal is located on a side street which provides a quiet interlude to the hustle of the city yet still keeps you in the center of things! I plan on returning again next year. Dan L

Room Tip: Corner rooms seem to get the best morning sun. Do not hesitate to voice any requests to the staff as they want to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
