I don't know what to say, in my past review I would have worshipped the ground it was built on, sadly I can't say that now. I found the hotel owners and staff indifferent to how they were a few years ago, from a cold reception, cold dining room, cold guest rooms be it standard, deluxe or super deluxe. Intermittent hot water, badly stained duvets/pillows (not covers or cases), old torn sheets, broken toilet seats, rusty shower roses, broken or badly placed electrical switches or sockets, room cleaning trash left on landings. Filthy kitchen staff uniforms, food served on cold plates, dishes washed in cold water...I could go on.
So the question is would I stay here again?
Only if the above mentioned was dealt with and the owners and staff weren't so indifferent or complacent, you can't survive on past glory.

Room tip: All rooms are now quiet since there are no more power outages and the generator is in retirement

Hotel G, Owner at Hotel Ganesh Himal, responded to this reviewResponded 18 January 2017

Dear Sir,

Namaste and greetings from the family of Hotel Ganesh Himal. I am sorry that we could not make your stay as expected by you this time. Due to less guests and with few staffs in the Hotel the family atmosphere was less. Hotel Industry in Nepal has been facing difficult time since the earthquake 2015 and things are getting better slowly and we are very hopeful for better tourism in 2017.We got little slow like you have mentioned with all the circumstances. We are always concerned about the best services for our customers. Our heating system was under maintenance during your stay and they are working perfectly now in the Lobby and dining etc. Most of our guests are having heating in their rooms, electric blankets, hot water bags etc. We would like to welcome you again. We take your review very seriously and we are working on every detail to make sure our future customers have memorable time with us. Thank you again for letting us serve you.

Warmest Greetings. Mukhiya Gurung

We have been staying here since the end of December and still have not tired of exploring Nepali culture.

The staff here have been so helpful in directing us toward interesting places and experiences.

The rooms are comfortable and affordable. We recommend a garden facing room and you must try the momo. The restaurant here is fantastic.

Hotel Ganesh Himal is a friendly hotel with great service and food. The momos were delicious! The garden is very peaceful and the rooms are great! The hotel is a short walk to Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

We loved that hotel - Welcoming ambiance, helpful and smiling staff, friendly team and clean, cosy and warm room ! The free pick-up airport service first appealed us to choose that place. The location and the team convinced us to come back after our trek to visit Kathmandu. Highly recommended !! Heloise and Clement

This is a kinda hotel I was looking for, there could be better hotel but this hotel was best for me and my budget. This is very nice and peace hotel just out of noisy Thamel city. I enjoyed my every nights here specially garden helped me to re energize. Room was clean and balcony was just perfect to sit and take fresh air. I went to rooftop of the hotel and had a view of Monkey Temple and took some snaps. There couldn't be any better places to spend night in peace Than this hotel. staffs were so attentive and friendly. It is a gem in Kathmandu it lacks only lift though it deserves five out of five. check yourself.
