“Peaceful haven in Pokhara”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2012

We were not overly pleased with our initial accommodation in Pokhara so, when we returned from our trek, we switched to Mum's Garden, about 5 minutes walk away from the main street, based on previous good reviews on Trip Advisor. What stood out here was the service. We received a warm welcome not only from the Manager but from all the staff who carried our luggage, brought us complimentary cups of tea to our room, hot water bottles at night etc etc. Fruit and flowers in the room was a lovely touch that did not go un-noticed. I would definitely stay here again if/when I return to Pokhara and recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.

I stayed in this guest house with my husband last July. The owners were very nice, friendly and helpful. They gave us many complimentary cups of tea and the rooms were very clean. It is quiet and peaceful. It is a little more expensive than other options but it is worth it!

We stayed two nights and would return. As another reviewer has mentioned the beds are rather hard. The owner put another mattress on the bed and all was fine. Rooms are very good by Nepalese standards. Hot water bottles were also much appreciated. Staff are very good as is the quiet location. It is a three minute walk to the end of the lake and many shops and restaurants. Breakfast is fine.

Mum's Garden was an excellent place to stay in Pokhara. It is located in the desirable Lakeside District, a block's walk away from the main street and 5 minutes walk to the Pewa Lake. Very clean, cute and quaint stone cottage complexes with a beautiful little garden and stone patio. The staff and owners are always smiling and provided one of the best services we encountered during our entire stay in Nepal. I would totally recommend this family run establishment as it was we always felt safe and peaceful here.

Mum's Garden is prettier than it looks in the photos. It is small, and very quiet. The buildings are beautful, and the bathrooms nice. We had plenty of hot water. The garden is lovely. The food was good. The host and his family take very good care of the guests. With no tv, and internet only in the lobby, it is quiet at night. The only disappointment is that you cannot see the mountains from some of the guest rooms. I would recommend they cut some of the trees so guests can view the mountains better.

Mum’s Garden is a beautiful, tranquil facility two blocks from Fewa Lake in Pokhara. The big stone patio is a wonderful place to spend the afternoon and the staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I found it nearly impossible to sleep because the beds are so hard. I describe them as about as soft as a layer of cardboard placed over a stone floor. There was no way to be comfortable and the resulting back pain lasted all day. I really hate to write a bad review because I like the place so much. But sleep is important and there isn’t much of that at Mum’s. It is a shame because otherwise this is a fantastic place.

Stayed at Mum's Garden for three nights and found the place to be very, very pleasant. The room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good, as was their lunch/dinner menu.

The hotel is located in East Lakeside a short walk away from the park at the end of the lake. It has a nice reception with a mixed indoor/outdoor seating area. After some days in chaotic Kathmandu - this was bliss.

The staff was also very helpful and pleasant. When I told them that I liked the hotel very much, they looked at me with big eyes and asked how I could like a place which didn't have neither A/C nor television in the rooms.

I don't know about A/C, I stayed here in November and the temperatures were not a problem. Maybe this would be useful during the summer months. As for TV, I hadn't even noticed.

On a final note, the Nepalese like their mattresses hard - and Mum's Garden is no exception to this rule. However, should I find myself in Pokhara again I would look no further than Mum's Garden.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 205, the room overlooked a quiet, grassy area behind the hotel and it was possible to...
