From the journey across the lake by small boat, paddled by the boatman and our guide, with a view of Fishtail peak sparkling in the sunshine, and the ascent through the trees to the hotel, to the views across the lake from our room and the silence all around only interrupted by birdsong, this was the most relaxing of places to stay, set among the trees on the hillside facing the mountains. Actually, that situation of the rooms created one of the small drawbacks - facing north, never really getting sun at that time of year, meant that there was a slight dampness in the atmosphere and the loo paper always felt damp! But the beds were really comfortable, the room spacious, our little verandah perfect for viewing the Himalayas across the lake and the staff in the restaurant most helpful and relaxed. There was an air of it having all seen better days but we find this often adds to the charm of such places and the setting - the water, the birds, no traffic - couldn't have been more tranquil. If you want peace and quiet, this is for you. (And they came round in the evening with hot water bottles!) I also tried the spa and had a vigorous massage from a cheerful little lady for a very reasonable fee, after which she gave me a robe to put on over all the oil and walk back to my room for a shower, looking oily but feeling great.

It was our first visit to Nepal and we were looking for other city to visit apart from the capital city, Kathmandu. We found Pokhara as the second most visited city in Nepal through TripAdvisor. We then made a research on accommodations in Pokhara and found Begnas Lake Resort & Villa. Despite it's location of 12km away from Pokhara city centre and airport, choosing this resort was the best decision!

Located at the hillside of Begnas Lake (2nd largest lake in Pokhara) and surrounded by lush flora and fauna with AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL and SCENIC view of the snow capped mountain range of Annapurna at the background, Begnas Lake Resort and Villa is a definitely a hidden gem! There are 2 ways to reach this resort. You can either drive to Begnas Bazaar and take a boat to the resort or you can drive all the way up to the main entrance of the resort. Begnas Lake Resort & Village may not have a grand or stylish entrance, but the minute you step down to the reception/club house area, you'll be simply mesmerised by what this resort has to offer, THE AMAZING VIEW!!!

During our stay, we felt relaxed and at peace. You can simply do absolute nothing and yet have a great quality time. Our favourite place is the outdoor sitting area at the one and only restaurant and club house in the resort, sipping a cup or two of coffee and hot chocolate. You can never get bored by the view..

The staff are friendly and warm. Always smiling and provide great hospitality.

We also managed to walk around the neighbouring villages and were greeted by the friendly villagers.

We would highly recommend this Begnas Lake Resort & Villa if you are planning to visit Pokhara for an enjoyable relaxing experience!

Thank you, Begnas Lake Resort & Villa for making our vacation in Nepal a memorable one! We were blessed to end 2013 and start 2014 at your resort!

Warmest regards,
Eddie & Christian :-)

We were taken by boat to this lovely resort. Our view from our room's balcony was incredible and romantic. The grounds around the resort were well kept and beautiful. The resort is an excellent place to stay if you want to experience the Himalaya Mountain Range, which is exactly what we did. After trekking at sunrise to Sarangkote Hill to watch the sun light up the snow topped mountain range and spending the day hiking and visiting Pokhara, it was great to come back to the resort for some relaxation. I highly recommend staying at this resort.

Room Tip: We stayed in a premier room which affords an excellent view.

We were on a family reunion in Nepal and we decided to go to Pokhara for 3 days . We chose the Begnus Lake resort over the hotels with a bigger name in Pokhara simply because the comments were very good on this hotel . I can tell that those comments were genuine as we experienced the same when we went there between the 30th of Dec 2013 to the 2nd of Jan 2014 . The location is extremely beautiful on lake Begnus with views of the lake in front and the mountains surrounding it . The rooms are cozy and all of them give a good view of the lake . The food and service are of a standard quality .

Room Tip: All rooms are of the same size and give a view of the lake , with a small difference in the amenitie...

We were a little concerned that Begnas may have been a little too far out of Pokhara but it is an interesting 30 minute drive by car with some lovely views along the way or a 15 minute drive and a tranquil 25 minute boat ride (just the swish of the paddles) to get there. Perched on the side of a hill there are wonderful views across the lake with some amazing snow capped mountains to be seen particularly early morning from the cottages balconies having been upgraded to a premier cottage. The restaurant has a terrace to enjoy these views from which is a great spot for breakfast or dinner. Food was excellent with a huge variety to choose from, especially ask for the Ayurveda menu. The food and beverage manager whose name I unfortunately can't recall was very attentive and friendly and ensured all was going well with our stay. The rooms were clean and well maintained and all the staff friendly and helpful. I must say how impressed we were by Mr Arjun, the general manager, he made a point of coming every afternoon and chatting to all the guests to make sure everything was meeting their needs. Also every time guests left by boat he would come down to the lake to see them off from the resort. When we finally left after our second stay we realised a quite expensive camera and bag was missing. We were flying out of Pokhara that morning so thought that it was gone for good. Thinking it may have been left at the previous hotel in Pokhara we asked our driver if he could call Arjun and ask him to phone them for us. Arjun called us back numerous times keeping us informed of his search for our camera. It was finally located under the seat of the minibus we used from Pokhara and Arjun arranged to have it delivered to the airport half an hour before we took off. Service way above and beyond the call of duty but just reinforced the Begnas approach that nothing is too much trouble and what a wonderful surprise it was to find such a marvellous resort.

After a 5-day trek, my husband and I stayed 2 nights in the fantastic setting of the Begnas. After the 20 minutes long boat ride, we could enjoy a beautiful water-front room. We had the "General Body Massage" and both enjoyed. We tried the yoga as well, and felt literally moved! The teacher was REALLY into it... quite an experience for novices! The internet was "on and off" though; not good for serious business! But we were there to disconnect; so, no shame! Great service from the new manager; and all of the personnel did their most to meet our expectations. We couldn't see the mountains on that day but the lake and surroundings gave us a good nice look on the country before we leave.

Room Tip: The pillows are a little hard to my taste. Corner room have lots of window. Loved the balcony and...
