“An Overrated hotel! Bad experience!”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

I stayed for 2 nights on 15, 16-Jun-2014 with family.

Swimming pool / lush green - these are the only good things about this resort. But if you touch any fruit or flower then.............!!

Location: far away from main markets and tourist attractions. Difficult to get a taxi to go to other places. Cartel of taxi drivers parked outside the resort make you pay alonost double the amount. Instead, stay at any hotel on Fewa lakeside.
Rooms: extremely poor maintenance. Non-effective AC. Poor cleanliness in bathrooms.
Complimentary Breakfast: below average quality and limited variety. Poor taste. Most of the items were on short supply.
Food/Dinner: overpriced. NPR 1800 for two people. Poor quality.
Service: poor service. Most of the staff are either trainees or too old to care about guests. Slow/dull appearance - overworked.
Bar/snooker table area: no AC. Dingy.

Hotel did nothing to delight! Infact, they slapped me with bill bearing charges of minibar items that I had not even consumed. Frontoffice Mgr apologised in a non-regrettable manner.

Room Tip: Dont stay in this hotel. You can get other hotels for almost the same cost in a better location.

Dear Mr. Jain,

Greetings from Shangri~La Village Resort, Pokhara!

Thank you for choosing to stay at The Shangri~La Village Resort during your recent visit to Pokhara, Nepal !

It was pleasure to have you as our guest and we appreciate your constructive feedback on your recent stay.

We do regret the incident where our security guards prevented your children from plucking the unripe mangoes, although we do allow our guests to enjoy the ripe mangoes and lichies of our garden. As regards the hotel location we take pride as being strategically placed of having unparalleled view of the mountains and do not market ourselves as a lakeside resort. Although, we are just ten minutes drive from the lake and provide complimentary shuttle service twice a day to and fro the lake side.

The room that we had allocated to you was # 123, and we have never had a complaint of A/C in that room, nor did we find any complaint lodged by you during your two nights stay. The A/C in that room is found to be in proper working condition. We have a split A/C unit in our “Pool room” beside the bar and operate air conditioning as and when the guest uses the facilities.

As regards our breakfast it has a wide selection of choices including Indian items and we change the varieties everyday and have been well appreciated by our clienteles.

Our Food & Beverage Department has reported that we had charged you only INR 625 plus taxes per person for our lavish buffet dinner.

Our minibar had charged you for the missing drinks as consumed and after you advised us about where you had placed them to keep your personal drinks, we had waive off the entire minibar bills we had initially charged.

We take pride in creating memorable hotel experiences for our guests and, in this regard, we are genuinely regretful to learn of your experience.

Thank you for taking the time to share this review here on Trip Advisor.

Regards,

Manish Srivastav

I went there for dinner on last August with my better half. They arranged a table for us beside the pool. Service was sincere. I liked the food. As expected price was a bit high. Location is quite far from the main tourist place at Pokhara. Recommended if you want to celebrate something special. Make reservation before you go as i found the place full of guests.

This a nice resort hotel. People may get confused with name but it has nothing to do with Shangri Group. The hotel has very good staff, a perfact location to view Himalayan range, Greenery all around and very convenient for sight seeing. You can go to Fewa lake for boating just 2 km, Gupt mahadev - a cave temple where if you go further down in the cave, it has small opening to view Devi's fall, you can do para-glyding from Sarangkot and can also take air sorties.

Room Tip: It is best to travel in Oct to Feb to have a clear view of Himalayan range specially snow peaks like...

When I booked this I was in a hurry and thought it was a part of the Shangri-La chain. Although it has nothing to do with the well known chain, it was a very pleasant experience with a beautiful, comfortable room overlooking the garden and pond. Breakfast was served in the circular restaurant overlooking the pool. The staff at the buffet went out of their way to get our kids boiled and poached eggs. This hotel sees all the tourist that are either making their way to a trek or back and are very flexible. We enjoyed our time here as there was plenty of room for the kids to run and a Nepalease swing for them. Very nice.

Room Tip: If you have kids the lower level is better as they can walk out of the room into the garden instead...

beautifully landscaped and peaceful hotel a bit removed from the touristy, hectic side of Pokhara. Amazing flowers in the garden and nice views of mountains in background! the Airport is only 5 mins away. The flip side is that a taxi is generally required to get anywhere in Pokhara (e.g. lakeside), but it's a perfect place to aclimatize before setting off on a trek or to recover and relax afterwards.
good standards in the hotel and service, food was good to excellent and restaurant staff very helpful with the kids.

Room Tip: 2 stories only, so upper story has balcony for better view of the mountains. ground floor has acces...

we stayed for 2 nights (before and after the trek), on both we stayed at the same side of the village (rooms 223 & 226). the mountain view was outstanding, and the swimming pool was well main kept. the room had a small balcony. Breakfast was with a lot of variety, and included vegetables. the staff was very polite and positive.

Room Tip: two tips - first, their is a flat rate for cabs - 300 from to the city. Second, you will get the sam...

Rooms decent, clean, a little jaded but some touches which made them pretty. Gardens stunning with lots of flowers and smells. Lots of hammocks to lounge about in. Pool nice, clean and pretty. Food - al la carte superb for veggies with lots of variety. The staff were fantastic and chatted to us about the food we liked and then recommended things to add which made it a much better meal. Really good chef. Breakfast good variety. Get in there before the dawn tour returns and its lovely and peaceful. Bar - good but quiet. Pool table. Good staff. Try the Everest beer. Staff - very lovely and helpful. Always smiling. The only thing that lets the hotel down is the fitness centre. To be fair it doesn't advertise it has one and we didn't expect one so we wouldn't condemn them for it. Its not really useable and is strictly for very amateurs who just want to mess about. Mind you if you go on a trek round the surrounding hills you certainly don't need a gym. Bring 2 pin plugs for here.

Room Tip: Garden view
