“Chitwan blah”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 May 2014

The rooms were really basic. Most of the time there was no electricity and there was also a lot of mosquitoes but you can purchase mosquito coil from stores nearby. The manager Mr.Deepak scammed us into buying a package, which included meals, a trek into the forest which was done in extreme speed as if the hotel guide dressed as a ranger was speeding to catch a glimpse of a rhino, and a jeep safari. Later we found out the other hotel guests had only paid 5000 NR but Mr.Deepak charged my partner and I, 8000 NR each!! We asked for Nepali food and never got it. We also said we were vegetarian but got chicken two nights in a row. The meals consisted of pasta and vegetable with tomato sauce and cheese or chicken with tomato sauce and cheese. Chitwan wasn't worth it. The villagers make money through selling tickets for crocodile breeding, elephant bathing and elephant rides. There's nothing forest like about these activities, the elephants have to be tortured and broken before they follow their mahouts orders. This is not nature. Please think twice before partaking.

We went to Nepal for the first time we were unplanned and not managed at all, in Katmandu we had some assistance from family and friends. When we travelled to Chitwan we had very less clue of what to do and when to do, so we went to this hotel, it was built as in the shape of Huts and was clean with spacious rooms and equipped with generator ( i should tell you that all over Chitwan there is bad situation of electricity and every hotel has the generator but they rarely turn it on :P :D ) so we checked in. Then i told them we want to do all what's here in Chitwan. Manager Mr Deepak was a nice guy and immediately chalked out our three day and two night plan for us.

It inclueded following :

Tharu Cultural Museum.
Elephant Breeding Center.
Sunset,
Tharu Cultural Dance.
Elephant Ride.
Canoeing.
Elephant Bath.
Jeep Safari.
Crocodile Breeding Center.
Bird Watching.

All Package costed us 22,000/NR (We were three so 7333/NR each)

It didn't stopped here when i asked they arranged a private car for us to travel from Chitwan to Lumbini and then to Pokhara. They also helped us with Hotels at both the places with special discount.

Private Car Costed us 19000/NR
Room in Lumbini - 2500/NR
Room in Pokhara (Non AC) - 1200/NR

Overall it was an awsum experience meeting Mr Deepak and his Staff. Stay Blessed Guys :)

Room Tip: All Rooms are safe Some rooms are with three Beds too :P

I have never written a poor review simply because it is usually a perspective issue but this place was really not worth it. They have packaged tours which they really push on you, we finally agreed but stated that we wanted to stay for 4 or 5 days & hire their guides independently to do bird watching, they said that yes yes this was fine. The package tour involves you getting to most places on foot which is fine if you know that is what is happening & if you leave on time but when you are starting your tours 30mins late & have to walk there it cuts into your time. The meals are ordinary & there is no choice you eat what you are given. The rooms are fantastic but the aircon never works, not that I expected aircon but when you are told it is there and always available it is disappointing same goes for the fan the backup power is not often in use. The wifi was so slow it was useless but the real problem came on the second night when we received a knock at the door asking us if we were leaving in the morning to Kathmandu or Lumbini when we advised that we were staying 2 or 3 extra days we were advised no sorry we have booked out your room to people on a package. They were not apologetic they simply wanted more money per day from incoming tourists. The birdwatching part of the tour is approx 1 hr along the same banks near all the stores & hostels which eventually winds its way to the trees further along. We should have started there, also the safari trek is you walking until the guide finds a rhino; once that is completed he chats to his fellow guide all the way back to the river there is no bird watching. It is possible to travel independently and stay at hostels using their guides without going on a package, but to toss out your customers on new years day made finding alternative accommodation impossible. Be wary of these people you are just a $ to them

Room Tip: anywhere but here

The room was nice with a good sized verandah, a bit old though, the bathroom was clean. The staff was extremely helpful, the food good, the activities nice, the naturalist friendly. Internet was not very strong and many times off or not working. The only disadvantage was the construction work all over the place with many workers moving around the compound, starting early morning.

Stayed in the Resort in January 2014. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The property is not well taken care of. Maybe the reason would be they are constructing new resort building in adjoining space and old cottages are old, unclean and bathroom are in bad need of repair. Several new Resorts have come up in Sauraha recently, next time I will try one of those.

Room Tip: Stay away from Room No. 104, the bathroom drainage is blocked and overflows.

We stayed at Chitwan Forest Resort for two nights. We did a package which included all the necessary activities in Chitwan at a very reasonable price. The rooms are basic to say the least but given our budget, this was fine. Negatives were the hardest mattresses in all of Nepal, and the bathrooms weren't that great. Positives were the service, the huge meals ( if you go with the package) and the fact that the packages are the exact same as all of the 5 star resorts but a tenth of the price.

My friend and I spent 3 nights there, taking the package 3 nights/4 days. We highly recommend it! The hotel itself is nice, food is good (very big portions!!), the place is quiet, the rooms are big and clean. And the price for the activities might seem high but is definitely worthed! You even have hot showers!!!!!
