“Good for short stays but definite flaws for frequent visitors and long term guests”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

This is my second review of this hotel, having stayed here from Sundays to Thursday/Friday every week for nearly two months now (with an additional 8 stays at the hotel before that). In my initial review I gave the hotel a 4-rating on the basis of excellent service from the staff and the very clean and comfortable rooms. I am happy to conclude that these aspects of the hotel have definitely survived the test of time and I have enjoyed consistency at a very high level on both these aspects! The front desk staff, bellboys, concierge and restaurant staff all go out of their way to make the stay pleasant. Any request is quickly handled (asking for iron/ironing board, asking for taxi, asking them to keep some luggage whilst I leave for the weekend, etc.) and with enthusiasm. In fact, the staff are clearly this hotel's greatest asset and keep me coming back despite the flaws described below.

The reason for the 3-star rating I gave this time is viewed from the perspective of a long stay guest for which this hotel is not ideally suited. First of all, for a 5-star hotel, the room service menu is ridiculously limited without any real main courses (just a soup, a pasta, some fried rice and some unimaginative sandwiches). For the avoidance of doubt, this hotel has two good restaurants (the steakhouse is really great and has delivered consistent excellence on the 15+ times I have eaten there. The Italian restaurant is not outstanding but has some nice dishes on the menu). As a frequent traveller however I do not want to spend two hours on dinner every day and therefore would like to be able to fall back on a sufficiently varied room service menu which the hotel lacks. On occasion, I am able to order menu items from the Italian restaurant but these arrive lukewarm at best so this should also be looked at. A room service menu should have some items that, whilst not necessarily being comfort food, should be homely as frequent travellers are too jaded to want a 5-course meal with wine pairing extravagganza every day.
Second of all (I have been staying here with a number of colleagues), the hotel does not really appear to reward the continued loyalty we have been showing, often trying to impose different rates on us seemingly at random. Whilst I can appreciate that the hotel may be busier on some days than others, given the business we generate at the hotel (rooms and restaurants), I would have expected them to adhere to the agreed corporate rate as a matter of continuity.

In summary, the hotel is a superb choice for travellers on short stays in Taipei but for longer term guests the hotel should improve the room service offering and address the reservation issues that we have encountered.

Room Tip: I have stayed in about 15 different rooms in the hotel and all were good and clean with a similar la...

When check in, front dest give me lower room, I ask for higher, she told me what I booked is this type, small room, and all room were booked that night, couldn't make change for me......I just thought my reservation is standard room......

My room is opposite to gym, outside of window is swimming pool, no private space! and no wifi signal......they arrange engineer to fix it, but no result! It is so strange that only this room wifi is bad, and they didn't find it before? then they changed another room for us(full booking or not full? )

Air condition is not good in room! Mini bar is good!

Breakfast is good!

Location is far away from city center, but near MRT station, near shopping mall, supermarket, just ok, not the best choice for tourism.

First stay here and will come back on the next trip. Service was good from the staff, good selection at breakfast for westerners and Asians. Wifi had good connections. In a quiet area of town, next to the train which allowed good access to the city. Rooms are nice, good design.

Stay at this hotel every time in Taipei, mainly because it’s near to our office, but also because the service is excellent.
Check in is quick, simple and everyone speaks good English. Rooms are spacious, clean and the internet, either WiFi or LAN is FOC and works well. You also have some free drinks and food that is not part of the mini bar.
The location of this hotel is also good. It’s a few minute’s walk to the MRT. There is also a large shopping mall with restaurants, a Carrefour supermarket which on the ground floor has a food village with about 20 quick and easy eating paces for just a few pounds.
Breakfast there is a good spread of hot and cold, Asian and Western. Lastly if you stay over the weekend there is a good chance to see a wedding.

I stayed here for a business conference for 4 days. The room was very clean and modern. The breakfast was above average and had a good selection of western and asian cuisine. The service was helpful but not outstanding. I travel quite a bit and this is one of the better hotels I've stayed in.

The hotel is in a good location, near to a very good mall and in front of outback, the staff is very friendly and helpfull. The room service sucks, the restaurants in the hotel close quite early and the menu options on the room service is very poor

Very comfortable and quiet. Big room size, good service. Simple buffet breakfast but pretty good enough. Hotel staffs were helpful when we need advice on good resturant nearby.

One Interesting thing need to aware. The toilet is an "automatic" one. Don't be afraid if you find that the toilet seat cover move up and down "automatically".

Better take a taxi in summer even though your office is 10 mins walk from the hotel. It was just too hot to walk without any cover on the road. The location is good for business traveller only. If I were a tourist, I would prefer a hotel in shopping area.
