The hotel was quite good. Went there with an open mind knowing that i can't expect much from a 3-Star hotel. Initially, when i stepped into the hotel, i was a bit creeped out by the corridors and rooms as it felt eerie. But soon, it changed my mind :)
Facilities and Amenities
Well let's start with the rooms shall we? The rooms varies in sizes. If you're lucky, you might get a big room with 2 queen-sized beds, but if you're not, then you have to settle for a 2 single-sized beds. If lady luck is smiling on you, then you might get a bigger room with sofas and a large-sized toilet equipped with a nice bathtub. The cabinets varies as well from big to small and some rooms don't have windows.
Mine was a big room with 2 single-sized beds. The beds are hard, but the TV offers a wide range of shows to keep you entertained. Different channels offer different genres from Movies to Sports and Varieties. Other than that, everything was in good condition, lights, telephones, walls, carpets, etc. Some rooms have a large mirror directly facing the beds which might be uncomfortable to guests who are superstitious.
Using the bathroom was a difficulty for me. I'm 181cm and the ceiling is just about 10 cm away from my head. Not really "Tall People-Friendly" HAHA! Other than that, everything was fine :)
The staff never fails to make your bed, change clean, new towels and toiletries everyday. They won't touch a single thing when you leave your belongings all over the place. They would also greet you goodnight when you're retiring to your room late at night and help to keep your room keys when you're out and about in Taiwan.
I had my breakfast every morning throughout my time staying there. Breakfast consists of a buffet with Asian and Western influences. A guest can have a choice ranging from Noodles, Buns to Breads and Eggs. The management and staff should consider changing its buffet menu since it serves the same range of food everyday which might bore certain guests. It was decent to me although some might disagree.
The location of the hotel was great and convenient! Situated in a corner of a row of buildings, if the breakfast isn't your cup of tea or you're hungry in the middle of the night, you can take a trip down to the nearby 7-Eleven, Family Mart or Dim Sum stores (By the way there are 3 7-Eleven stores around the vicinity of the hotel. Each store is minutes away from the hotel). You can walk further down the road, west of the hotel, towards the nearby food street to cure your hunger pangs.
The train station is located behind the hotel, about 2 minutes away. It's very convenient especially if you're heading to places such a Shilin Night Market, Ximending, Taipei Main Station, Wufenpu or far away destinations like Danshui for your shopping and sightseeing.
Overall, it's a great hotel especially when you spent much of it sleeping at night only. I would recommend to those who are looking for good, budget places to stay. Do bear in mind that it's only my own honest opinion. Come with an open mind though :D
