“One of Taipei´s most beautiful temples”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

Nighttime proved to be an interesting time for visiting the temple. There were surprisingly quite a lot of people there after dark. Of all the many temples in Taipei, this should be one you make a point to visit.

“Beautiful & special place.”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

Serene, calm & holy place. Locals present in abundance. Rituals taking place of which I understood little. Atmosphere calming, I said prayers, absorbed the atmosphere and enjoyed watching the rituals by the locals. Really beautiful place.

“Very busy on weekends”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

Probably better to attempt a visit during the week rather than on the weekend. Despite it being a very wet Saturday afternoon the temple was packed which made it a little tricky to get decent photographs. Worth a look.

“Take a Little Time at this Temple”
Reviewed 3 May 2014

Longshan Temple is a metro stop on the blue line, so the Temple is easy enough to find. It’s also a fascinating place at which to watch the constant flow of people who come to pray to the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy - Kuan-in or to the many Taoist gods in the various shrines. They bring offerings (as diverse as Oreo cookies, fruit, and handmade flower decorations), as well as light incense and candles. When we were there, on the outside, we could see big float-like horses, in honor of the Year of the Horse, and there were other animal figures and brightly-lit lanterns, giving the place a bit of an amusement park look. That did not, however, take away from the seriousness displayed by the believers.

This is a temple! Even on a Thursday there were lots of people there either praying or just soaking in the ambience. Lungshan is very accessible and close to markets and transport.
