Nice and large rooms with really comfortable beds. One downside though, you can literally open a small door at the desk (!) and look at your room partner on the toilet. Also, the isolation to the bathroom is basically paper thin, so privacy is mostly an illusion.

The staff is decent at speaking English and generally very helpful. When one in our party lost his phone in a cab, they helped us to call the company and actually managed to track down the phone.

The breakfast buffet is good, but pretty expensive if not included in the room. Dinner at the restaurant in the lobby area is a bit uneven, very good one day and a bit worse the next.

This hotel is rather new in the Taipei Station district. It is convenient as it is closed to the transport hub of the city, especially if you plan to travel within the Island, e.g. Kaohsiung and Taichung, as it is just next to the Taiwan High Speed Rail Station. It is also right next to a rather new shopping mall (Q Square) where you may find something good to eat, e.g. N Y Bagel (I love it so much.)

The price is a bit higher but in return for excellent and professional services. My friends ordered online a lot of Taiwanese pastry and requested a delivery to the hotel. The front desk helped us to receive them and the staff were very nice to bring all those heavy stuff upstairs to our rooms. The rooms are spacious and stylish, just the light is a bit dim, not really sufficient for makeup.

This is a relatively new property which I understood opened in 2010. We had a junior suite with another add-on bed (for 2 Adult and 2 Child). Room was well furnished, control of room lighting and house keeper would come to the room at around 5 in the evening asking if you need any assistance and additional amenities.
Good location with Taipei Main Station (TMS) just across the street. If the weather is good and you just want to go across to the take the HSR or mainline railway, I would suggest that you just go by the overhead bridge and do not bother with the walk through QSquare Mall as it is a long winding path with lots of people. It is also near the interchange station between the blue and red lines.
The negative aspects which I could "fault" the hotel are:
- breakfast spread was a bit disappointing with limited fruit spread and the only change each day is the local noodle dish;
- wait for lift could be a bit too long especially during peak hours;
- only adults are allowed at the executive lounge (which offers good view of the surrounding)
All in all, our family, are pleased with our hotel choice and if the rates are attractive, I am sure we would be back again.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms which offer view of Cheng De road, at least there is something interesting to see

Locate conveniently to all public transportation. Train terminal & metro cross the street, long distance bus station next door. This is one of my favor 4-5 star hotel worldwide.
The decor is top notch with European castle like theme, cool TV remote that also control your AC & light. Room size is decent with clever arrangement for the bathroom and a large bath tub and separate shower room. I also love the extra large table with all the plugs, switches and USB handy.
Room is clean and staff are very friendly and helpful.
Love their breakfast, not the best but with great selection. You will find great pastry, cheeses , sushi and of course typical Taiwanese breakfast.
There is a shopping center steps away next door and do have some great Restaurants. My only complaint is that I don't have enough time to try them all :-)
Palais De Chine is not your ordinary hotel. It don't have those grand luxury feeling when you walk in, but it will surprise you in unique design and
details.

I stayed at the Palais de Chine for two weeks on a business trip and have got the chance to try at least once everything they offer. I ended up amazed for the luxury and attentive experience they offer.

Rooms are spacious, originally furnished and feature an amazing bath with both a spacious walk-in shower and a round tub. I had a superior room (which is the entry one) and still I felt very much at home for two full weeks.

Dining is for sure one of the best points of the hotel, having a Michelin Dim Sum restaurant (Le Palais) on the top floor offering an outstanding Cantonese experience. La Rotisserie is also very nice, offering both all you can eat buffets as well as a la carte orderings.

Service level is very high, everyone is very kind and attentive. Rooms are extraordinary clean.

If I had to quote some negatives I would for sure underline that most of the staff do not speak any English and the gym is actually very small and has little to offer beyond a couple of treadmills.

On the whole it has been a wonderful stay, the hotel really helped me during such a long stay away from home and I would definitely come back here again.

I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of May. Great location, walking distance from the main train station, which makes it very convenient. I understand it's a new hotel but it is decorated to give it a patina of old-world. I had a room on the 12th floor, very clean and fairly big. The bed was comfortable. I could not make my remote to work all the functions like switching the lights or adjusting the thermostat but I did not bother.
Breakfast was amazing. I wish hotels in North America would offer breakfasts like this. For dinner, I stayed outside on the patio one night. They close at 10.30, kind of early I would say.
Reception is at 6th floor, very helpfully people there.
There is room for improvement in the gym. One has access to the pool located in the building beside where the department stores are. I did not go because it opened late and it closed too early.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

We were guests of the hotel for 5 nights at the beginning of May. While the hotel falls a little short in delivering the five star service we have encountered in some hotels in North America, there is a genuine and often successful effort to please and satisfy guests. We travelled through Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China over a period of 30 days and stayed at 8 different hotels. Palais was one of the best.

The hotel is quirkily beautiful: its décor will not appeal to all-part Bordello, part European medieval castle, and part contemporary Asian hotel, it is unique in our experience. Most of the public spaces are dark, and some may be put off by the lack of natural light.

Our room was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Again, it was dark. The positioning of the bathtub in the entrance was unusual, as was the pass-through from the bedroom to the toilet. We are nonplussed by the purpose of the latter. Toothbrushes, robes, and slippers were replaced daily. The Japanese seat with whistles and bells was a curiosity.

On our first evening at the hotel, we visited the lounge for a drink and, after sitting down for only a short time, were asked to move out to the outdoor terrace (a very pleasant space) so that the lounge could be prepared for dinner. I complained later to the front desk and we were very impressed by how our concerns were handled. We received a visit from management, a gracious apology, and gifts of chocolates.

Throughout the duration of our visit, we felt that we were valued guests and appreciated the inquiries made as to our needs and satisfaction. On the day of our departure, several staff members escorted us to our waiting car.

We took our breakfasts at the hotel and found the buffet to be varied and the food to be good. Service by wait staff is a little hesitant and lacks confidence. The tepid temperature of the coffee was an issue.

We ate dinner at Le Palais twice. A review of that restaurant will follow shortly. At both the restaurant and the lounge, we had issues with wine. The staff does not appear to know how to serve it or store it. Most of the time it was off.

The location of the hotel is very good. We took advantage of the mall beside it and dined in several good restaurants.

We filled in a guest comments card at the end of our stay. We were delighted to receive a response from the hotel, something extremely rare in our experience. This is a sign of a hotel that is aiming to please. We recommend it.
