“No wow, just okay”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We went for the 90min tatami hot spring room. It looks quite old and tired with an old huge boxy tv which came a faulty remote. The faucets were old and creaky, and the bath area was also simple and spartan. But I suppose all the hotels, except the really high end hotels are like this, so it really was within our expectation. Although no wow on a whole, but hot spring is still a must try in the land of hotspring (xin bei tou) so go book a room!

Went to this hotel to use the public soup. Very good experience. Needed to be naked, quite a mix of ages and all men quite happy to let it all hang out. Strip area relatively small but you you don't take long getting stripped. Lockable lockers for valuables and an open shoe store area. Bring your own towels but they provide shampoo and foam soap. Bring your own scrubbing towel for a great clean. Showers are sit down affairs,or you could stand if not many guys in. Two pools, fit about fifteen each. Also a hot steam room. Water a milky colour but cold pool has clear water. Value for money. Would go back again as felt very relaxed.

We did not stay in this hotel but had lunch and did public hot spring here on Saturday.
Reached here after 1.30pm and not much choice left in their restaurant on rooftop. Had Japanese ramen at NT220 per set. We ordered 4 sets for 5 persons. Big portion and taste good.

Public hot spring is charged at NT280 per person with no time limit. Must be naked. But no worries as male and female has separate section. There are 2 pools i.e. one hot spring pool and another cold pool with Jacuzzi. They also have sauna. Locker is provided free. Bring your own towel. Else, rent big towel at NT40 or buy small towel at NT40. Free flow of drinking water. During our visit at 3.00pm (after lunch), it wasn't busy, probably about 10 persons in the public hot spring section. They do provide hair dryer. You may need it after shower.

We chose this over Atami Hotel because Atami has only one hot spring pool and no cold pool. Atami charged at NT200 for 1.5hrs on weekend.

Broadway public pool is not a huge place but we did had a great time here.

Tips: Recommend to do hot spring after visit Hell Valley as this place is about 3 mins walk away. After that, can just walk back to MRT station. easy walk as you are going down the slope.

I filled out a form on the hotel's website before coming to Taiwan, but the hotel did not follow up with a response. I then tried to email the hotel using the address from the automated response generated from the form, but it pinged right back to me. So, instead of staying the night in Xinbeitou, we made a day trip from Taipei.

When you get off the MRT stop, walk to the park and stay on the right. You'll see the hotel after about 200-250 meters on your right. We stopped in decided to get a private bath for NT$990 for 90 minutes. I thought the rental would be for two hours, but I guess I read incorrectly somewhere before this. We went on a Wednesday, and I think the prices for weekends are double, but I am not sure.

The room was very plain, but it was clean. It had a nice view of the public bath area, and the hotel provides free tea and instant coffee, and I had a cup of coffee while I drew the bath water. The water knobs were very loose and felt like they would screw out if you tried to open the valve, but keep turning it counter-clockwise, and it will eventually catch.

They give you a call when you have fifteen minutes left, letting you can rinse off and get changed. We were a few minutes late, but there were no issues. We also wanted to have lunch here after seeing the pictures, but they told us that the kitchen was closed, so we had lunch in Tamsui.

We adored the Broadway.
Don't stay in the Japanese style room if you are not use to futon and sleeping on the floor, the futon provided is very thin and it can be really uncomfortable.
We stayed one night in the Japanese style room with own hot spring bath but decided that we preferred the public bath better ,also we just can't cope with the thin futon.
Breakfast is also great and served outdoor on the roof terrace.
Reception and all the staff are really friendly.
Price is really reasonable, location is good, about 5 mins walk from the MRT station.
There is a great little vegetarian restaurant up the road too ,we ate every night there.

Room Tip: Room 502, easily the prettiest room.

I checked in Japanese tatami rooms on Oct 2007!
This is definitely a very good experience to stay @ Broadway, you may enjoy the hot spring in the japanese style room anytime with any temperature of the water.
However the guest still can enjoy the public hot spring with either hot, cold pool, spa pool & steam room, really enjoy with the facility.
I will definitely recommend this comfortable & cozy hotel~

I went to Xin Beitou with an intention of scenery viewing and enjoyed a private onsen at one of the hotels at their onsen street.

Along the street, there are several interesting and great service hotels. But some dont have private onsen services for 1.5 to 2 hrs rest.

After comparing the atmosphere and the price, we decided to rest at Broadyway Hot spring Hotel. They offered us a Tatami room having scenery view; 2 hr rest with a price of NT1320.
No meal included. There were other rooms type with cheaper price range but we did not enquiry further and decided to go ahead with this Japanese room due to the friendless service render by the counter lady.

The interior of the hotel really made you feel that you were in Japan. When we went into the room, we were so impressed by the setup and service given. In the room, there is a small cupboard and futon, small hot water dispenser, TV, tiny toilet and the onsen area. We enjoyed our dip and a short 2hrs break.

As it was a rainy day when we visited Xin Beitou, we left our 2 fold-able umbrellas at the main entrance. The counter lady even kept our umbrellas for us. If she didnt keep our umbrellas for us, they might have got lost and we would be drenched and all the hot spring dripping will be a waste.

This hotel with such facility and services, I will definitely come back to try their hotel stay for my next Taipei trip.
