Location is great - around 1 minute from a good street market (turn right out of hotel) and most of the stalls there are welcoming to foreigners, unlike quite a few others we saw in Taipei. The nearest MRT is Zhongshan Elementary School (yellow line) less than 5 minutes away - exit 1 from MRT, walk forward and Shuangcheng is the 2nd or 3rd right hand turn.
I really liked the breakfast - very good tofu and I don't normally like it. Aside from toast and some scrambled egg the breakfast is Taiwanese so don't expect an American one or anything like that.
Rooms are good size, WiFi was generally OK to good in the rooms. Good number of TV channels, great bathroom. Very clean.
The only issue was the laundry facilities - don't use the ones in the hotel as the dryer is rubbish and you have to use the hotel's washing powder and they don't give you enough. Turn right out of hotel, walk past the night market and cross the road. You will reach a self service laundry in under 10 minutes that is cheaper than in the hotel. I had to go there anyway, after 1.5hrs in the dryer in the hotel my clothes were still wet. The receptionist apologised as I dragged it all down to the laundry but didn't offer me my money back.
Generally great hotel with poor laundry facilities.
