“Interesting garden”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2013

Much smaller than expected. Open & exposed. A mixture of formal, sculpted, semi wild, gardens & enclosed hot houses. Deserted orchid house with limited but beautiful display (veryhot !). Indoor (ok) and outdoor watergardens. Fascinating children's area: butterfly / moth breeding, masses of dragonflies and damselflies. Saw watersnake catch a fish ! Herb garden.

Much more varied garden than most in this part of the world. Historical twist adds to interest (CSS was Christian). A leisurely respite.

“Looking back at history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2013

I believe some people probably mistaken this with the Shilin Night market. Guandi means government residence, which here means the former residence of President and Mrs. Chiang Kai-Shek. We came back here for the second time and there were still things that we've missed from our last visit. It's 'making history come alive' walking through this building which used to be prohibited to the public for many years. It was very crowded this time around with tons of tourists from mainland China, plus it was a local holiday. Make sure you rent the audio set for description of the different parts of the residence. You may also ask questions to the friendly staff standing around, they would be more than happy to tell you the inside stories of the place. Worth the $100NTD extra.

“Only food and clothing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2013

We were quite disappointed. We were expecting to see some local handicrafts together with some local products. But it was just a regular market with daily products, like any market.

“Enjoyed the flower show and the tour”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2012

Went here when they had the flower show. It was even better than the flower expo last year imho. It is outdoors and if the wind and rain had not worn out some of the flowers, it would have even been better. Also went on the tour of the presidential home. It was an interesting look back in history. This is a little far from the subway/metro and hard to get a taxi here.
