“Excellent location”
Reviewed 20 December 2012

Very conveniently located. Room was clean and well-maintained. Staffs were very courteous and helpful. They offered to keep a box of pineapple tarts that were delivered to us so that we don't have to carry it to our room and gave tips on how to take public transport to some places of interest. I like the powerful rainshower too. Only minus point was the walls were thin and you could hear people talking and walking along the corridor.

New Stay Inn is located across from Taipei Rail/MRT station, walking through underground passage way towards M8 exit is around 10-15min). It is a convenient transit point if you are travelling by train to the other parts of Taiwan.
The hotel is relatively new (<1 year old) and therefore clean. The price was rather reasonable too (around USD115 for a night stay in a family room with 2 queen-sized beds).
The underground shopping at the area is quite extensive and amazing too. A scalf/shawl for NT100 or a pen/mechanical pencil for NT10 etc… The famous Shi Lin Hao Da Chicken Chop, 士林豪大鸡排 (NT55) can be found at the M zone underground shopping area too.

Rooms are ok, although cleanliness can be improved. Location wise it is very near to Taipei main station (exit Z8). Service staffs are helpful.Walls are very thin, if your next door persons talked loudly you can practically hear every word that is being said.

Will not repeat what the other reviewers mentioned about the location. It is just a stone throw away from z8 of the underground station exit, facing main road. Tip: look out fr the hotel signage on the 5th level of an old building across the bus station terminal building. Receptionists were helpful- free storage of luggages when you travel outskirts. As we bought lots of snacks, they were helpful enough to provide us with a carton box, ruffian strings and tape to contain the snacks and check in at the airport. We stayed at the family room with 2 queen beds. Room is clean and nicely decorated. Note bathroom ceiling is low, might get in the way for tall guests. But agin it was clean and outfitted with modern bathroom fixtures. on the nights we were there, there was no problem with the soundproofing although at times, we were able to hear some guests talking in the next room. Still we slept very soundly. Overall, would stay there again if we are back in Taipei.

Good location near the Taipei Main Station. There is a underpass that leads you right to the hotel building. the hotel is located at level 5 of a old building.

Room is new and clean. but the bathroom is scary! the shower room has a see-through glass window facing a deserted looking corridor. A blind is can be drawn to cover the see-through, but there are some 'peek-holes' at the corner of the window.

We paid USD209 for a family room for 2 nites for 4 adults. We like the clean and spacious room. The hot power-shower was great. Reception staff was courteous and helpful. As a budget hotel, we think the basic facilities are well maintained and the price of the room was fair. The hotel is located opposite the Taipei West Bus Station - Terminal A. You may take the airport shuttle bus (50 NTD) and alight at Taipei Main Station vicnity, and walk about 12 minutes to the hotel.

As the room is not very 'sound-poof' - the noise from the corridor and adjacent room may be the downside to the hotel. You get a nice and big TV to enjoy with complementary coffee/tea/bottled water in the room.

Recommended for travellers who like to stay closeby to Taipei Main Station to access train transport to other parts of Taiwan.

I have been to Taiwan before but this time my husband came with me. We arrived at the airport and the hotel had arranged for a friendly person to meet us holding up a card with our name on it. The hotel is right opposite the main station in Taipei, but even so we would never have found it on our own. The driver took our bags to the lift inside an area where people were selling street food, luggage, and all sorts. The reception for the New Stay Inn is on the 5th floor, and there we were met with friendly receptionists. Our room was clean and comfy. We knew that there were no windows in the room which felt a bit odd, but many hotels are like that, and we soon got used to it. The air conditioning was much needed and quiet and we slept like logs. We were there for 4 nights - our son joining us for the fourth night as we were heading south to Hualien and Dulan where he lives. The hotel organised a guided tour of the city on our first day there which was exceptionally good. When our son joined us we went with him to the top of Taipei 101. Other good things to do in Taipei s to see the jade market and flower market at weekends. The city was great as was the hotel.

Room Tip: If you are looking for views of the city from the room - that is not going to happen! We used the...
