“Deluxe Double, nice room!”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

I would say overall that was a very nice design room, i love the lighting inside the room, i love the toilet. There was enough warm water, such a comfy night everyday. But the staff given me the last room along the alley which is room 532. That's quite far away from lobby when I wanted to take water at midnight.
Other than this, it's nearby taipei station yet it's quite far for me and my friend to walk underground in the taipei station. Because the hotel is located at the z6(underground) exit in the taipei station. I would like to suggest those who don't like to walk too much, it's better don't choose this hotel as well. Else, you will feel exhausted every night.

Room Tip: Suggest to choose a room that nearby lobby, where you can dispense water at lobby.

Newly renovated and clean. Friendly staff.

Near Taipei Main Train Station so it is easy to travel out of the city.

A lot of restaurants hereby whereby you can try out different types of meals.

Within 5 mins walk to underground shopping area so that do not need to worry about rainy day or hot weather

Pros:
1) Room - Clean, simple and chic. Totally different from the building facade; it's like stepping into another world.

2) Fantastic location - almost right outside one of the exits of Taipei Main Station (Z8, i think).

3) Nearby amenities - Lotsa stalls nearby. Due to the close proximity to Taipei Main Station, there is no lack of food or shopping.

Cons :
1) Room - a little small but acceptable.

2) Lighting in room was not conductive for sleeping. The switchboard near the toilet is never off, thus emitting light 24/7. There is also a fire sensor (i think?) in the room emitting red light. Have difficulty sleeping cos of all the light.

3) Thin walls. Can hear laughter and talking from those staying beside you.

4) No breakfast served in hotel.

OVERALL:
New Stay Inn is recommendable; especially for the money you're paying. The location and nearby amenities are totally thumbs up.

Room Tip: Try to request for a room further into the corridor. We got the first room (nearest to reception and...

Stayed at the hotel during the NYE's countdown period. Had 2 rooms - 1 quad and 1 triple. The rooms are spacious and clean. Toilets are spacious too with good hot shower. Housekeeping tidied and cleaned daily. The only thing is the lack of wifi in the rooms. However, the hotel has a very spacious lobby which our group called it the living room. So should we require wifi, we would just gather at the living room. This also allowed our group to get together rather than in our own rooms.
The staff are polite. I have met better front desk staff in Taipei. We like the central location and despite the external, the inside of the hotel is up to our standard. Overall a value for money stay.

Service staff are helpful and polite.
Room is clean and decor nice and modern. Room size is small for family room, not much walking space, but this is expected of a budget hotel in Taipei. There was a distinctive sewage smell from the bathroom throughout our stay. The smell got a bit better only if you shut the bathroom door tight. The maintenance staff said that is because the building/piping is too old so there is not much that they can do. Like many small hotels and guest rooms in Taiwan, there are no windows in the room, there is only a small ventilation window in the bathroom if I remembered. Some people may feel a bit uneasy as a result. The pay TV in our family room was not working, upon complaint the maintenance staff checked but could not fix the problem, he mentioned that problem likely due to installation fault which by no means could be resolved easily.
The building that the hotel is located is really worn out and there are only 2 lifts to serve the entire building. On the 2 days that we stayed here, one of the lifts broke down, so you can imagine the wait.
The plus point of this hotel is of its superb location as many others have mentioned.
I would recommend this hotel for short stay and transit, obviously not a choice to relax.

Room Tip: Book the family room early.

Within walking distance from Taipei Main Station and the airport shuttle.

Dingey shady exterior, the air inside the hotel smells like a mix of rubbish and stale ciggarette smoke. The room is kept clean by a nice team of obasan, complimentary water, hot drinks and snacks are replenished daily.
Our shower room was right next to a window that leads to a corridor (no view). The window was covered by a drawn shade. One day we came back to find out that the window was open.
Rooms are not sound proof. You can hear doors shutting and people walking down the corridor.

For the price that we paid, definitely not worth it.

The place is very new with clean and modern room and bath with rainfall shower head. Rooms with two double beds were hard to come by during summer vacation time. Ours also has a dorm sized fridge, a desk and a chair in addition to the two beds and a night stand. It has no closet or sofa. Unlike many hotels in Taiwan, breakfast is not included but there are plenty of places for food or late night snacks. The hotel has a back entrance/elevator. From there right around the corner is a Starbucks, a necessity for fighting jetlag. Across the street from Starbucks is a nice bakery with fresh goodies hot from the oven. McDonald's is also close by.

Bottled water is provided everyday with the cleaning service. The hotel lobby also has a water dispenser for cold and hot water. There is only one room key card for each room It has the room number and the hotel address on it. You are asked to turn in the key card when you're not in your room. I found it odd at first but had no issues with security.

The hotel provides many toiletries, including the ones not usually seen in American hotels such as razor, Q-tips, dental floss, sanitary napkins, comb, toothbrush and toothpaste. But hair conditioner is not one of the items. This is the case with four other hotels I stayed on this trip in Taiwan.

Room Tip: This hotel is on the 5th floor. If you have trouble finding rooms but like the location, there are...
