We have stayed at Regent Taipei numerous times for years. On our last stay, we noticed this is not the hotel for us any more.

The hotel itself is still great with stylish and modern decor. The reception and concierge offered outstanding service and professionalism of 5-star. The shops on lower level provide great convenience. The restaurants' food quality is top notch. The breakfast is still one of the best in Taipei hotels, with great selection and high quality. We also enjoyed the live music at night, while having drinks and relaxed.

Regent Taipei, over time, has become less of a hotel where hotel guests relax and be comfortable as a home away from home. It is now more of a social gathering place, where events are hosted and fans gathering. As a result, it is constantly crowded and full of noise. The service level with bellman has extremely gone down to rock bottom. Upon arrival and departure, no one came to help with the luggage, until we called to have them come over. There were more than two at the entrance and I noticed they just looked away. They seemed to have forgotten their primary duty.

One key factor we look for in a hotel while traveling is comfort. Regent Taipei now seems to me of an attraction spot with residences on higher floors. It may still be a great choice for others, but for some travelers, the atmosphere isn't the right fit for a home away from home any more.

Thank you for taking the time to write your comments and we appreciate your very positive remarks regarding the Reception and Concierge team as outstanding, as well as the restaurants and the breakfast. We are sorry to hear that you did not entirely enjoy this particular stay due to the overall business of the hotel and we have noted your points regarding service at the maindoor which has already been addressed with the team. Please do let me know your contact details so that I can follow up with you offline.

Spacious rooms, good dining and wonderful service.
Nice ambiance in ghe centre of the lively city. Had a great tour organized / facilitated by the hotel.
It is not cheap in the hotel, but quality for money. Tell the staff in the restaurant that you want to enjoy and take your time for the food otherwise it is like a formula 2 race. The only minor.
Breakfast is great and in a spacious area.

I do travel often and usually stay at 4-5 star hotel.

I have just returned from 3 nights stay at the Regent Taipei. I would like to reconmend this hotel to Asian tourist, but not for western business traveler.

I have traveled with my hubby who has business to do in Taipei for a few days. We had booked a delux room about 6 mo prior to the trip. Upon check in we were automatically upgraded to 20th floor (called Taipan room?) with free of charge, also late check out (1300) was granted.

- Room
Our room was located right next to elevator hall, just a few steps out from the famous spa. The room was good sized for Taipei standard with slightly resort feel deco such as hard wood floor, low bed, no working desk (way too low to use PC), and very dingy light (you can not even read).
This type of room can be appreciated by single woman traveler who mostly spend time for the and shopping around the hotel. The bed was a king sized with very firm mattress. I am used to western standard so it didnt work form me.

-Facilities
There is a good sized fitness center on B3 and cozy pool on the rooftop that opened year around. The gym has a few different type of cardio machines and 5-6 different weight machines. I went there in the afternoon so it was not so crowded. There is sauna/hot tub for each gender it seems like mostly used by local ladies.

- Restaurant
I ate a dinner at Azie cafe (American large size Pizza, single portion salad, soup, coffee, and desert for approx TW$1,000) and three breakfast buffet at Brasserie. The Pizza was NY style good enough for asian standard, other are come with option deal such as + soup & salad for $280 or + everything for tw$ 480 etc..just note that music (+singar) start at 1900, going on for a few hous. too noizy for dinner. The breakfast was not impressed at all. Yes it has wide selection but quality each food was just okay. I had stayed other hotels in Taipei in the past that charges for less expensive breakfast buffet does better job. The restaurant was very crowded during the weekend you will expect bunch of chinese families with yound kids running around.

Overall
If you are looking for the place you can relax after long day of work this is not your place. The hotel caters bunch of events year around, so you will expect to see weddings or parties during your stay. The location of the hotel is convenient. You will find a few starbucks and seven eleven within 5 min walk, also many massage place are also walking distance.

stayed here 3 nights on a recent trip to Taiwan. The hotel was excellent, the bed was comfortable, room was big, great view, wireless was great. Limited english TV. We had drinks a couple of nights, the bar serves wasabi peanuts that are phenomenal (can't find them in the US). would definitely book there again, they transport reservations were also good form airport to hotel. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet.

This was my first trip to Taipei and I am delight to have chosen the Regent. The quality of the hotel was first rate. The hospitality and competency of the staff was extremely high.

The room was very spacious and had an excellent closet with many extra amenities like a shoe horn and clothes brush, something rarely seen now in US hotels.

The workout facility was very nice. It was a little crowded at opening (0600) but I was able to get a workout in without much wait. The area around the hotel looked to be up-scale with many luxury stores in the area.

I am very glad to have had the opportunity to stay at this hotel.

I stayed on the Club Floor of the Regent Grant Formosa. Overall, the property is tasteful and has obviously had various upgrades of late, some of which jar with areas that also seem dated. I was also not crazy about the lighting in the suites which was frustratingly dark in the evenings.

This is my second stay in a year and what struck me as quite comical when I returned is that the music selection that is piped into the lobby is the same repertoire that was piped in a year ago and, as I soon discovered, repeats itself over and over on an hourly basis.

Overall, I like the hotel but struggled with staff members who seemed awkward and lacking in a bit of common sense and EQ. For example, while I was being checked into my room on the club floor, I was offered tea. After two sips, the tea was immediately whisked away without even asking as soon as I signed the necessary papers. Likewise, I was told to hand over a piece of laundry for complimentary pressing and had to convince the lady that I would do it later after I unpacked. I'm not quite sure what the sense of immediacy was to complete this at check-in. Also, later in the evening when I approached the desk in the Club Lounge, rather than taking the time to get to know me and greet me, there was almost always this sense of panic and even annoyance on the attendant's face as if to say "is there a problem or something?" As well, when I went to the refreshment section of the lounge, I asked the attendant if I could have a glass of wine after which she pointed to a bar section rather than offering to bring a glass to me.

While these are all staff training issues that were basically a minor annoyance, I think they are still worthy of focus in bringing the hotel to a level of excellence that is expected at a hotel of this calibre.
