Good location in Taipei down town area, near the MRT and the local attractions.
The rooms are different due to the building layout, therefore not every rooms are square (mine the triangular, pizza shape) Room looked like been refurbished not too long ago but already missing maintenance. All the needful are provided but the cleanliness and the odour need improvement. The power plug and the state of WIFI router in my room are both challenging and could be dangerous.

The room rate was very reasonable which included Breakfast Buffet as well as WIFI (decent speed). Breakfast were reasonable and nothing fancy. The hotel seems to be busy all the time but staff were pretty attentive and assisting. Check in/out were swift.

My 8th floor room facing main road with busy traffic and it was noisy at peak hours. Stay higher please.

Overall a reasonable though not quite decent. The slight stinky smell killed the deal.

Room Tip: stay as high floor as possible

The hotel is at a good location i.e. nearby MRT station (Sun Yat Sen station). Besides that, it is a stone's throw to Sun Yat Sen's memorial park. There are alot of eatries and shops at a walking distance. If you are more of a shopping type, SOGO is just 1 MRT station away.

If you are travelling by groups, there may be a chance to get a free upgrade on the room as they may try to put everyone at the same floor. That's what happen to me when I am travelling in a party of 8. We book for 4 standard room and end up got deluxe rooms which is spacious.

Room Tip: Travel by groups may have a chance to get free upgrade on the room. Corner rooms facing the right s...

I stayed at United Hotel with my family. We booked two superior rooms but they very kindly upgraded us to the deluxe rooms. The deluxe rooms are huge and so were the bathrooms. The hotel is somewhat old but relatively clean. Beds are comfortable but mattresses and pillows are on the soft side (my hubby who likes his mattress firm didn't particularly like the soft beds).

Be warned too that some rooms (including the deluxe rooms) do not have a separate shower stall. So you'll end up having to shower in a deep bathtub; young children and the elderly will have difficulty getting in and out of the tub. One of our rooms was like that and the bathroom smelled mouldy (I think the shower curtain was the suspected cause). So be sure to ask for a room with a shower stall.

Our rooms were just across from the lifts. Initially, we were worried that it would be noisy with all the human traffic but our fears were unfounded.

The gym is equipped with just a treadmill, a cycling machine, a cross trainer and weights machine. Real bare bones gym. There is no pool. Breakfast was reasonably good but unfortunately, the spread is not big and is the same every day.

However, the staff and location of the hotel are great. The staff speak English reasonably well and are friendly and helpful. The hotel is only 3 mins walk from the subway exit and there are lots of little streets with interesting shops and eateries to explore. Hailing a taxi is easy and is really the better way to travel for a party of 4. We also had no problems with the free wifi in the rooms.

All said, we enjoyed our stay and would return to United Hotel if we were to make another trip to Taipei.

Visited united hotel during my maiden Taipei visit last year for a titration exhibition. This hotel is very well located and close to the world trade centre of Taipei and Taipei 101. The rooms are very nice has a nice gym and the breakfast is good as well . It's well connected to the subway train and has many shops around for various things .

Room Tip: Get the rooms facing the Taipei 101 you can get a very good and colorful view at night

Pregnant wife booked this hotel and they have the audacity to put her in a room with a strong moldy smell. The wall defects are painted over and after a night my wife feels really sick. Her friends come over and the first thing they say is the room has a strong moldy smell. I guess that's the sort of quality you expect from a trash hotel.

Convenient location for restaurants and transportation. The hotel is a bit old but the room is spacious and tidy .Comfy bed. Good wifi, amenities available, my room had a shower and a bath(it looks like not all rooms have a bath). The buffet breakfast is simple , not a wide variety.

Location is the best of this hotel: very central, walk distance from public transportation and attractions, and located in an area full of restaurants and shop.
perfect for both business people and vacations.

The staff is impeccable and always at your service with a smile on their face.

The shower is really powerful and makes all the tiredness disappear in a second
