Good location: opposite the Taipei Film House and nice independent cafes nearby. If you're into luxury shopping (I'm not), there are also posh shops nearby
Excellent customer service - a friendly member of staff took me out and showed me nearby cafes; another helped me with an airline booking
Nice lobby. Feels suitably "regal"
Good breakfast buffet

(-)
While the location is good, there are few things to do at night within walking distance (bars and snacks excepted). You may have to hop on the metro and visit a night market

Hotel Royal Taipei is conveniently located along Chung Shan North Road in the heart of Taipei's vibrant commercial district, which is a 45-minute drive from Taoyuan Airport, 10-minute drive from Taipei Railway Station, and about 3-minute walk from MRT Chung Shan Station. Besides patronizing high-end boutiques and department stores, other nocturnal entertainments include the following:

1. Catch a flick or luxuriate in the alfresco café at SPOT-Taipei Film House, situated across the street from the hotel

2. Visit NingXia Night Market, which is about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Another notable night market is Shihlin Night Market, which is only 4 MRT stations away

3. Rejuvenate by getting foot or head-and-shoulder massages at nearby massage establishments

Furthermore, thank you for recognizing the hospitality extended by our staff. We are pleased to know that they have given you a brief orientation of the environment and assisted you with airline booking. We have always strived to offer a well-rounded spread of Japanese, Chinese, and western fare to accommodate our guests’ variegated preferences. If time allows on your next visit, please try the authentic Japanese fare at Nakayama Restaurant and Cantonese cuisine at Ming Court presented by our executive chef from Hong Kong. At the bakery adjacent to the lobby, we recommend our world-class Macadamia Nut Nougat Candy and hotel-made pineapple cake, both of which are popular take-home souvenirs.

Again, thank you for staying at Hotel Royal Taipei. Should you have any further comments, please do not hesitate to notify us. We look forward to welcoming you back on your future visit!

We stayed for three nights. As a family of three, one corner suite and one regular room. Both are excellent and we had a very good sleep.

3 minutes from the central subway station, middle of almost everything.
Very nice and friendly employees, helpful for anything we asked.

Room Tip: Corner suites are really good, it's worth for the price.

We stayed in this hotel for four nights. The hotel is centrally located. The Chungshan subway station, which is next to a big department store, is just 250 meters away. The Taipei Main Station is one subway stop away. The room was nice and spacious, and the bathroom/toilet was modern and clean. The staff members (receptionists, doormen, chambermaids, restaurant staff) we met were all friendly and courteous; they always took the initiatives to greet us. The buffet breakfast at 'Le Cafe' was very good, with good choices of Chinese and Japanese dishes although the selection for western dishes was comparatively more limited. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Hotel Royal Taipei. We will choose to stay there on our next visit to Taipei.

The hotel was very nice. We had a standard double room and the bed was big enough for two of us. We got two complimentary bottles of water everyday. The bathroom was clean and came with toothbrush, razor, shampoo, everything you need.

The towels were changed daily and the room cleaned. The AC was working good.

The hotel is very close to the MRT station ( 5 min walk ) and 10-min walk to a night market. I would say it is located in a very safe area.

The person at the reception was kind enough to allow us to check-out 1 hour later at no cost. The stuff in general was very kind and helpful.

For breakfast there were loads of options including pastry, cakes, cheese, ham, etc. if you don't like asian food. During my stay I tried almost everything and all was delicious.

We arrived late on Friday. Our first impression of the hotel was that it was very clean. The owner of the hotel is Japanese which would explain the Japanese toilet and breakfast. The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable. The furniture and bathroom were pretty basic, but fine. You get complimentary water bottles, free wifi, an electric kettle, instant coffee and tea, toiletries, and a hairdryer. The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. It's a buffet with many, many choices. It had a mixture of Japanese and American options. I loved it. The location of the hotel was good. It's very close to the MRT (the metro). There's a pool and a gym on the roof. The gym was decent. There were a couple of treadmills and other machines. There were also complimentary water bottles and towels. The walls of the gym were glass and there were TVs. I was pleased with it. Overall, we have no complaints about our stay. It was very much worth the money.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and taking the time to share a favorable comment about our hotel! We are delighted to hear that the overall quality of your stay was excellent.

Hotel Royal Taipei is conveniently located along Chung Shan North Road in the heart of Taipei's vibrant commercial district, a 3-minute walk from MRT Chung Shan Station. We take pride in our “quietness in noise” environment. Moreover, as a chain hotel of Nikko Hotels International, we ensure to deliver superior services to Japanese as well as all foreign and domestic visitors. We are pleased to know that our staff has been nice and helpful.

We are also pleased to know you were satisfied with the guest room. Our latest remodeling was completely by Kume Sekkei, a leading Japanese design company. The pastel color scheme and guest rooms are designed to engender a homely ambience. Besides the shower toilet, free internet access, amenities, and other facilities, we hope you had the opportunity to use the trouser presser and stationery kit furnished in each room.

Furthermore, we would like to thank you for patronizing Le Café for breakfast. Many guests have reflected that it is invigorating to start the morning with our breakfast at Le Café that overlooks the tree-lined and sun-showering Chung Shan North Road. We have always strived to offer a well-rounded international spread to accommodate our guests’ variegated preferences.

Last but no least, we are thrilled that the fitness center and outdoor pool (open May through September) on the rooftop were up to par. Currently, the gym is equipped with cardio machines, weight lifting machines, treadmills, stationary bicycles, dumb-bells and even a blood pressure measurement machine. Please note that free rentals for swimming apparels and sneakers are available as well.

Again, thank you for staying at Hotel Royal Taipei. Should you have any further advice and comment, please do not hesitate to notify us. We look forward to welcoming you back on your future visit!

After staying for four nights in another hotel in Taipei I decided to move to hotel Royal. I really like the location. The area is quiet and clean. I do not fancy crowds or clustered buildings like Nathan Road in Hong Kong. Hotel Royal's location is like Singapore's Orchard Road. A nice Japanese mall was nearby and there were Starbucks, Mos Burger and Macdonald's. the room was just big enough, bright and clean. Staff was polite and helpful. The train station was only a few minutes walk away. If you are taking the coach back to Taoyuan international airport, the bus stop to take the coach is only one minute away from the hotel and costs only NTD 90 per trip! It takes you straight to the airport terminal one and two. Love it!

It's actually located in a very convenient region, and close to the metro station, which could be reached by few minutes on foot. Yet, it's located in a quiet street shaded with trees on both sides. Staff is all very polite, efficient and helpful, concierge had helped me a great deal about my "excessive" luggage packing.
Breakfast was nice, Japanese-style though. The view overlooking the street was amazing.
Room was nicely furnished, with L'Occitane toiletries.

Room Tip: Worth spending a bit extra for the premium room which is much bigger with better facilities.
