Imperial Hotel Taipei

Most horrible and outdated hotel I have ever stayed in 20 years:

- breakfast 90% for Chinese or Japanese almost no bakery, no waffles, no pancakes, no porridge even simple things like small coffee spoons are missing
- room very old mostly noisy I had to change room 3x
- hopelessly overpriced for Taipei
- mainly young group tourists almost no business travellers not suitable for business poor lobby & no cafe
Overall very budget nothing special about this hotel rather a 2+ star I have stayed better in ibis!

This is a vg "local" 5 star hotel but a level below a true 5* international hotel. But at the prices currently being offered on the net it is an absolute bargain. Hence it is fairly full.

I had a junior suite because the price was so good. Large room split into 2 areas, lounge and bedroom but open plan. Very nice bathroom with a separate shower as well as a bathtub. Very comfortable queen sized bed. Small desk (a bit too small really) and free wired internet(not used) and WIFI which worked well.

Staff are great and generally speak English.

Breakfast is a buffet catering for both European and Asian tastes with a vg egg station cooked to order.

Bars and restaurants are a bit quiet in the evening, most of the guests are tourists who I assume eat and drink elsewhere. Food inc room service is pretty good by hotel standards. I was pleasantly surprised by the low food/drink/mini bar prices but perhaps but I don't really know what the local norm is.

Would certainly re-book and would pay a bit more if the offers subsided.

STEVE

Room Tip: Look out for good deals on premium rooms and suites eg use Trivago

A good hotel with friendly and helpful staff (who speak English).
Rooms are well appointed and surprisingly large though I was in a corner room (ending #15) which may have made a difference. It's not particularly close to the major sites and a 5 min walk to the subway but once you're on the subway it's easy and fast to get around. However be aware of major construction next door and request a room away from it. The hotel is showing it's age in some ways but the level of service is very high. Fee WiFi too which is (or should be) the norm but of note is that the speed was good compared to other similar shared services I've used in hotels in the past. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Request a corner room away from the construction.

I booked the rooms for my friends from 1/30 to 2/1. My friends extended their stay to 2/3. The hotel charged me with my credit card for Room from 1/30 to 2/1, meaning My friend paid room from 2/1 to 2/3. When my friend checked out on 2/3,The hotel charged my friend from 1/30 to 2/3 without my approval. That was upsetting. The hotel staffs were not listening what customers wanted. I felt embarrassed for my friend and would consider removing imperial hotel from my recommendation list.

This is a really good choice for price and value. It is 4 stars level, well located, you can walk to red or yellow MTR line, or catch a taxi really easily. Room was a good size, quiet, everything worked well, we had the poor side for the view, but we didn't stay too long in the room to worry about it, cable TV, internet worked well. We didn't try breakfast, but there is a local breakfast place 2 min walk away that serves all the Taiwanese breakfast specialties including bean curd, pancakes, fried bread, dumplings etc. I was on holidays, but I travel often for business, and this hotel is would also be good level for business.

I have stayed here more than 20 times. It is small enough to be personal but large enough to offer great facilities. Free Wifi is available throughout the hotel which has good restaurants and a great European style "Front Page" bar. Great Italian resturent next door though quite expensive. Hotel also convenient for High Speed train link to Taichung etc. Also new motorway link to airport is convenient and speedy way to access the airport.
Executive floor rooms provide breakfast in Exutive lounge and complimentary drinks and snacks in the evenings

Room Tip: Standard rooms all have wifi but if prepared to pay a little more try the executive floor

My wife had stayed at this hotel several times on business trips, so it was a natural for our tourist stop as well. The choice was made easier by the mid-level pricing. Several hotel search sites offer discounts at this hotel, but that usually means breakfast is not included in the rate.

The morning breakfast buffet was about average and even pricey at NTD 1,210 per person, with some items running low if one had breakfast toward the end of the serving time. There are many less expensive meal options a short distance from the hotel.

All the staff we interacted with were fluent in several languages, and uniformly helpful. Wi-fi and wired connections were free and speedy.

The hotel is located a couple of blocks from the Zhiongshan Elementary School Subway Station, which made it easy to navigate and inexpensive to travel to most of Taipei's major tourist attractions.

Room Tip: Upper floors have more recently renovated rooms and larger bathrooms. Avoid the rooms on the north s...
