Well renovated property in city centre. Rooms are good sized (though not large), designed in a modern manner and bathrooms are excellent and spacious. Gym is an odd mix of various rooms but all have up to date equipment and facilities. Spa area also looked very nice. These facilities are located on the 5th floor and have been gut renovated with an excellent outcome. Did not try the restaurants but overall services were very good. Weak point was spotty wifi service which kept dropping. Room are well soundproofed.

if you can, go the Club floor. It's quite pricey, but for the business traveler, it's the right decision. You don't have to ever spend money on breakfast or dinner... the breakfast is amazing... for dinner you can just eat their hors d'oeuvre. Use the Club area for your business meetings, and that area (where you can have breakfast) always has drinks and coffee machine cranking, so the high price is actually a fair deal.

They just renovated the spa, gym and the rooms. The rooms were quite long in the tooth, and the new rooms feel a smidge smaller, but they are quite modern and the beds are comfy as all get out. The gym is AMAZING. All they need is free weights and it would be complete. But otherwise it's quite impressive. They do have dumb bells if you need to do thrusters!

The concierges working the entrance to the 'area' are awesome and can fix up a solution to most any problem you have. Love this place, it makes me feel at home!

Room Tip: go Club Floor!!!

Nice, clean, great location and the staff are very friendly. A real hassle free stay. Just what I want. Comfortable room and bed with enough space in the room. And they remembered my gluten free status. Nice spot. Would definitely return. I recommend it.

Great Splashy hotel. Nice rooms. Exterior looks great. Awesome choices for breakfast. Nice location. Stayed for 6 nights on business travel. My only negative was, if you want to use the Hot tub/Jacuzzi, I was told I had to strip completely naked!!! What? No, Thank you. Even though, I loved this place, I might choose somewhere else next month, just for this reason. Or, Can you please change this policy!!!

Room Tip: I dont know about Spa, as I did not go in. So, I gave One Star.

I had a great stay and the place is in a great spot for food and shopping.

The rooms are really nice and warm feeling.

I stayed on points and didn't get an upgrade as a platinum member . Which is ok it is their hotel. I was only there one night. I had just come from the Bali Hyatt where I was upgraded. Just left a bad feeling in my mouth. They still get money for my room on points so treat me as a loyal customer and through in a perk. Others do.

Our 3 nights at the Grand Hyatt Taipei was a comfortable one. They put us up on the 20th floor, which is a club level. Rooms have been recently remodeled and the decor was eye-pleasing. Rooms were bright. There was a shower and tub in our bathroom as well although I think a tub is not available in all rooms. Modern amenities. It was a room we looked forward to after a tiring day of sightseeing. The only reason I am not giving a 5-star is because the exterior of the hotel needs modernization that can be easily one with some paint. Some areas of the hotel, although would have been considered grand in its earlier days, now needs updating and a facelift. The hotel is also a walk across the street or bridge to Taipei 101 (Observation Tower and Upscale shopping) and a short walk to the MRT.

Room Tip: Can't offer much advise as I have not compared with other rooms.

My wife and I just returned from a three night stay at the Grand Hyatt in Taipei Jan 30th-Feb 2nd, 2014. We normally don't stay at large chain hotels that charge $450 per night when we travel. However, my wife had a bunch of Hyatt points from business trips so we used points to cover the entire first two nights of our stay. We stayed in a Grand Club King room on the Club Level.

One of the first things I look for when booking a hotel is location. The location of this hotel is great. It is located across the street from Taipei 101. There is a very nice mall at Taipei 101 which has a lot of good shopping if that's your thing and a lot of restaurant options, including the excellent Din Tai Fung. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g293913-d2244808-Reviews-Din_Tai_Fung_101_Branch-Taipei.html The Grand Hyatt is located very close to two different MRT lines, which make it very accessible to the rest of the city. The Taipei 101 MRT station (red line) is a block away and the City Hall Station (blue line) is only a 10 min walk from the hotel. The bus stop (bus #1960) to go to Taoyuan International Airport is right in front of the hotel and makes things really easy when leaving.

We stayed in a King room on the 22nd floor (Club Level) and our room was absolutely perfect. The room was spacious, modern, and perfectly spotless. The bathroom was nice and clean and we always had hot water for showers. The shower was nice and big, had great water pressure, and had both a regular and rainfall shower spray. There was also a separate bath tub. The hotel had free wifi which was fast and worked well in the room and through out the hotel. There were also two complimentary bottles of water which were left in the room every day for us.

We did not dine at any of the restaurants. However, we did have access to the Club Lounge on the 22nd floor which was nice. It included breakfast in the mornings (cereals, pastries, eggs, sausage, dim sum, juice, coffee, etc) and complimentary cocktails, wine, and appetizers in the evening. I suppose you could stuff yourself with the food at night and make a meal out of it, but I didn't eat much since I was saving room in my belly for the night markets. What I did have was fresh and tasty though.

The entire staff was very friendly and accomodating. The front desk people were very nice and were great about getting us checked in and out quickly. All the girls that were working upstairs in the lounge were polite, friendly and always asked how your day was or what you had going on. They all did a great job clearing dishes and checking if we needed anything when we were in there for breakfast or in the evening.

One thing that I really enjoyed about the hotel was that they had a Chinese New Year celebration in front of the hotel and in the lobby on the first day of CNY. They had around 7 or 8 guys playing the drums, four guys in a couple lion costumes doing a lion dance, and a few other guys in costumes. The celebration was very well put together and I was happy to witness the start of CNY and be a part of the festivities.

Overall, my wife and I were extremely pleased with our stay at the Grand Hyatt in Taipei and everything was perfect. The location was great being close to two different MRT lines so it was easy to get around. As I said, we normally don't spend this much on a hotel when we travel since we don't spend much time in the room. However, if you are willing to spend the money you cannot go wrong with a Grand Club King room at the Hyatt.

Room Tip: You cannot go wrong with a room on the Club Level.
