“Fabulous Hotel”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

This hotel is gorgeous. The common areas are very elegant. The rooms are very modern. The bathroom is giant with separate shower and tub. The floor is very slippery when wet though, I had to put down an extra towel to cover the whole floor. The bed is very comfortable, lots of pillows. I used the laundry service twice and clothes were returned the same day. The room has a safe and iron, plus is stocked with amenities like toothbrush, comb, robe, slippers. The breakfast buffet is amazing. Chine food, noodle soups, congee, dim sum. Western food, ham, roasted tomatoes and potatoes, sausages. Yogurt, cheese, fruit, smoked salmon, several kinds of bread, and oh so, so many pastries. Don't skip the breakfast. One odd thing is that the water tasted and smelled funny, mildly of like pine scented cleaner. Not sure if that's particular to this hotel or to Taipei in general, didn't have a problem elsewhere though.

I stayed here for few nights while in Taipei. Grand Hyatt Taipei is located in the XinYi district, it is next to taipei 101. It is 10 minutes walk to the nearest MTR station. As a diamond member, I got upgraded to a club premier king room. The room was spacious and with great views. I did not get a room with taipei 101 views but still has nice views of the city. The services was nice and helpful.. especially Jayce of the grand club service. The club lounges was pretty big with western and asian cuisines. There is chefs can cook your eggs and noodles. Overall, I enjoyed my stays in Grand Hyatt Taipei and will definitely come back again.

The hotel provided good service. Check in was quick. Room was clean and modern. Had excellent amenities - if you forget anything, housekeeping has a list of supplies for him and her - super good for business travellers.

The food at Shanghai Court was excellent and Cheers was a good place to go for coffee and light meals.

Room Tip: The hotel was renovating so check if it has completed. If not, ask for a room far away from the lift...

I stayed for almost week on business. It really is a luxury hotel but is very expensive (especially with a plummeting currency) and there were a few things that could be improved - things that I have seen in much less expensive hotels:
- I asked for a foam pillow as they only had feather pillows on the bed. There is a little note telling you about all the things you can ask for and foam pillows were one of them. I was quite surprised therefore when I got a polite little note saying they did not have any foam pillows. Even in budget hotels I have had the option of a foam pillow.
- Check-in seemed to take an inordinately long time - how complex can it actually be? It is all on a system and should be quick and easy.
- A plunger with ground coffee or, better, a capsule coffee machine is becoming standard in very luxury hotels. Little packets of instant coffee just don't cut it anymore I am afraid.

But very comfortable, lovely bed, good TV, large room - so not too much to complain about!

I have stayed here multiple times but this time my wife and 8 month old accompanied me. There were a couple of things which made us wonder if this hotel was geared towards babies. Pool area doesn't have a baby friendly ramp. The restaurant staff actually put hot cup of coffee next to the baby. They however made up for it with great service when our baby was sick and had fever with thermometers, hospital recommendation, cleanex for baby , in room crib, microwave etc
The part I wasn't impressed by was several billing errors like charging us etc for breakfast repeatedly, room snacks etc. They did rectify these when we questioned them .but we expect better from them.
The WiFi has improved tremendously from past visits. And the staff is very friendly.

Other obversations:
14th floor corridor wreaks a bad musty smell.

Ok so there's no deals to be had at this hotel when a show is on.
You might think it's too pricey but it's not.
Here's why!
You walk to the trade show in the morning. No taxi through horrendous Taipei traffic.
You can go back to the hotel room to drop off literature and get a hit of A/c during the show.
You can stay later at the show so no need to join the mile long taxi line from 3:00pm on.
You can set up to meet your vendors after the show is done that day.
You have time to go back to your hotel to freshen up(after all the convention centre is "HOT".
You can go eat with your vendors locally without sitting in the traffic.

It's less expensive because you're much more productive. Less wasted taxi time, more time at show, more time with vendors and after you meet for dinner you can walk back to your hotel.
Book early these things are not such a secret anymore.

We stay at Grand hyatt Taipei from April 4 to April 8. The a Hotel room has been total remodeled. The room has been elegantly furnished. The spa is also beautiful. With the new XinYi subway, the hotel is not only walking distance to Taipei 101 and prime shopping district, you can also visit numerous sights and restaurants. The hotel is also neighboring civic center, Dr Sun Ya San memorial park and numerous bus central station. The hotel service staff is curious and thorough. I love the stay

Room Tip: The room facing front of hotel is excellent
