This was a very good holiday experience for us, Everything was spacious and luxurious. The room had a huge window down to the floor. The rooftop swimming pool was just a dream as was the onsen facility. We also stayed at the Sheraton and can only recommend to go for the Okura.

Quite possibly the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in! The rooms are Japanese style with sliding doors that separate the bathroom from the bedroom. Remote-controlled lights, curtains, and drapes are a nice touch, especially if you have a room with a balcony. I don't want to go into all the details and spoil the surprise, but I will say that the bathroom (the toilet) is a marvel.

Best of all is the rooftop spa and gym that is free of charge to all guests. Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and cold plunge are truly relaxing. The pool on the roof is roughy 25m so inveterate lap swimmers like me can get in a good workout if you want to get off the treadmill. I would go back there in a heartbeat.

The only downside is that we were traveling as a family and had to get two rooms since the beds are twins.

Excellent, one of the best hotels I stayed at. Superb service, clean, modern, stylish decor. |Try to get the room on upper floors, I had a great city views, including Taipei 101. Very nice spa area. Great views from the pool. Very convenient location. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Premium rooms on higher floor

PRO : Service, room, and location

Imagine this.....I was taking my new boss to Taipei and the day that we checked-in....it was a Chinese Valentine's day! I called to many restaurants and they were fully booked! Fortunately, a front desk staff name Ms.Rita was very helpful and she managed to find a good Taiwanese style restaurant near the hotel.

One more person that was very helpful was a reservation staff name Mr.Chou. Though I booked my room from booking.com but when I sent an email directly to the hotel to do a small change and there was a small misunderstanding in my email, he replied my email promptly and he also made an international call to confirm me. So I got a very good first impression before flying to Taiwan. Thanks again!

About the room, personally I like it more than Sheraton as the amenity quality is better and the room is so high tech. Soaking in a hot tub and watching tv inside the bathroom was so relaxing. One more thing, the wifi is free and I submitted a password only one time and I'm good for the whole trip. It is so hassle free comparing to other hotels that we have to log-in every day.

As a tea lover, the tea quality that they have in the room is very good. It would be great if they have non-caffeine tea too.

The location is very good. It is very close to everything from high-end shops to convenient stores.

Con: Scenery
Don't expect much for a view of city hotel. The higher room the better.

Tip:
If you are looking for pineapple cake, they have the best pineapple cake in town!

Room Tip: Higher floors for better view

Okura is my most favorite hotel in Taipei. Love the service, the cleanliness of the rooms. Rooms are very spacious, and beds are comfy

The buffet breakfast is excellent. Very good value for money.

Location not as convenient as W, but there are a lot of places to go to around the neighbor. And perhaps it is located in "older part of Taipei" , the hotel doesn't have the buzz of other hotels, but make clients feel very relaxing and right at home!

While the hotel prides itself as a five star hotel with Japanese style attention to details, we find our recent stay at Okura a somewhat mixed experience, perhaps due to the high expectations we have for the brand and the overwhelmingly positive reviews the hotel's been getting on Tripadvisor.
The good:
the hotel is well located within close walking distance to the Chong San MTR station, and a variety of both high end and mid-range stores. The hotel is quite new, the rooms are spacious, we stayed on the 18th floor and had unobstructed view of the Taipei city landscape. The room curtains, devices are all centrally controlled, full automated bidet toilets, Nepresso machines, separate bathroom and toilet areas.
The rooftop pool is well sized, clean and the fitness centre and gender specific nude spa is well equipped and comfortable, with steam, sauna, hot and cold whirlpool that opens till midnight which makes for a very relaxing stop at the end of a busy shopping day.
The staff are generally courteous and helpful.
The areas for improvement:
For a five star hotel, there is surprisingly no turn down service in the evening.
On arrival, they provided 2 pieces of their designer pineapple cake made from the Nine Bakery downstairs, which were amongst the best we have tested in Taiwan. However, they are not replaced daily (like most of the other hotels we stayed inTaipei), despite aggressive efforts to promote the bakery and the products throughout various places within the hotel. (We did bought boxes of them for gifts at the end, but that's besides the point).
The breakfast buffet has to be the most disappointing ever for a hotel of such calibre. The pastries is nothing of the quality as the products sold in their commercial bakery (The Nine as mentioned earlier); the western food variety was both limited and of fairly poor quality, food were generally cold, the bacon and hash brown limp and soggy. The Chinese food also were not well cooked and quite inspired, the dim sum were so discouraging that we would not venture to try their Chinese restaurant in the hotel. The congee were all lukewarm and got cold by the time you got back to your table. The Japanese miso soups and accompanying tapas seem to have much better varieties and delicately made. The only thing we liked from the buffet were the freshly cooked noodles from the noodle bar and the fresh fruits, but even that there seems to be relatively limited supply of the more "exotic" type of fruits being served. We stayed and had breakfast for 4 days, every day there were papayas, pineapples and watermelons being served; but mangoes and dragon fruits were only served 1 day out of the four.
The overall design of the hotel are grand but lacks character or a WOW factor, except perhaps for the big pot of lillies under the big chandelier in the centre of the lobby. It is kind of plain rather than getting across as being refined and delicate with the Japanese classical feel that one would hope for in such a hotel.
Honestly, even though the hotel is pleasant and nice overall, we are not sure we would try it again the next time we visit Taipei.

Room Tip: high floor has good view of the city

Nothing to complain about at all! The room is a good size, plenty of closet space, separate toilet with sink from the shower/tub and sink. All lights and drapes are controlled by a control panel on either side of the bed - very easy to use. Clean and comfortable beds. The attentive bellhops and concierges are all crisp, friendly, and helpful. The location is okay - it's good if you want to do some luxury shopping, as there is a small mall with all the big names right around the corner (Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, Saint Laurent, etc.) It's not super close to the metro stop, but it's also not far of a walk. It's quite a distance from the 101 area, but the cabs in Taiwan are cheap and everywhere. Really enjoyed our stay here, and would be happy to come again!
